After the NG shoots a few Mexican's and a shootout begins over the border : What happens to the 12 Million Mexican's here in America? Are they with us or targets?

Well the National Guard will have a position. Military speaking if the Mexican's run for the border.. well that would be a flank position.. Maybe we can rush them into Canada..

There will be huge protests by the Illegal Aliens. Bush will pull the NG from the border. We will pay the families of the dead Mexicans $10 mil. each and let them move their entire family to the US. [:(!]

From what I'm hearing the NG will be unarmed. It sounds to me,from preliminary reports, that Bush is just throwing up a smokescreen until after the elections;similar to the Arizona Govenors' political ploy.

the national guard will NOT be shooting anyone. they will NOT be armed and most of them will be support roles for the border patrol i.e driving them around, providing satelite photos, blah blah blah.

I am just glad that the NATIONAL GUARD is in a role that can more truthfully be referred to as GUARDING the NATION.

    Now, about that draft....

I, too, have begun to share those sentiments. In previous years I've bought into the theory that voting for anything other than one of the major parties is useless.

No more! My heart has always told me that I'm a Libertarian... The very conservative, constitutional, don't step on me type. My first reaction when someone tells me I MUST do something is... Why? Give me a reason based on sound footing and I'll gladly comply. Tell me that "they" or "them" said I must and my reaction is likely to become unpleasant.

So... My gut tells me that I'll no longer vote for an incumbent. Better to have new blood than leftover establishment. I support term limits for everyone. One time in office and that's it. No exceptions, except for maybe a sitting president in time of declared war. No favoritism, no privileges, no private pensions, and no other benefits beyond a reasonable allowance for having to put up with Washington, DC. Nobody is so important in our system that he cannot be replaced.

And if my vote doesn't count this time, there'll be more like me the next, and even more the time after that.
In other words, if a candidate wishes to represent, then his/her wish must be to serve. Such service should carry nothing in the way of perks or privilege. Turn out the bums! Get rid of the Kennedy clan and their ilk. Make it unprofitable to be a career politician and our government will immediately improve.

That would make it awfully hard to get real talent to run for office. The only people who would run would be the power-hungry, and I'm not sure I want people like that representing me.

    Yup.
Until finally enough will throw off the brainwashing to make a difference.

Well I guess it WAS wishful thinking..

National Guard Not Expected to Patrol Border
    AP - 31 minutes ago
WASHINGTON - National Guard troops tapped for duty on the border with Mexico will not chase down illegal immigrants but instead will play behind-the-scenes roles in support of border guards, officials said Monday. Among the tasks they are likely to perform over the coming year: training federal Border Patrol guards, building barriers near the border, improving roadways, providing support for aerial and ground surveillance, analyzing and sharing intelligence, and providing communications systems and transportation, the officials said.

    TinMan -

I respectfully disagree. We have VERY little talent now. What we do have is greed and hunger for power.

Term limits would discourage those who aspired to selfish interests. I believe it would encourage those of us who are both selfless and qualified to SERVE the electorate.

SERVE is the watchword. PUBLIC SERVANT is another. Either way... Public officials who are elected to SERVE those they were elected to represent.

    No personal agendas allowed.

I know... Wishful thinking, but we need to start somewhere.

EXACTLY what i have been saying. There will be NO troops protecting American citizens.

It's all smoke and mirrors folks. It's only happening until the mid term elections so the Republicans don't lose any spots. 5000 troops fixing flat tires and changing oil aint going to help anything. MANPOWER is what is needed to apprehend any and all illegal immigrants.
Yes,I voted for him too,but he's not going to tell me it's raining when he's pi**ing down my neck and expect me to believe him. He is going to do nothing. His own party has said as much on all the news channels all weekend.

I believe this issue has the potential to be catostrophic for the Republican Party.I think if the senate and Bush continue to ignore their voting base regarding illegals the party will suffer major losses in the House and Senate in November. The USA map could show far more blue than red come November.I will be listening closely to Bushs' speach tonite.[V]

The N.G. will be opening trunks & glove compartments at the border crossings.
Business as usual except the lines will speed up.

Unarmed NG. Good grief we don't want to harm anyone! Reminds me of just after 9-11 when we had in Indy troops in the airport with M-16's but no ammo. When does this country get their head out of their a**? Makes me wish I didn't have any kids. I'm old enough where I'm going to make it to my end. I worry about what my boys and their kid have left!
It's too late for me, save yourself.

The silent majority on this board still support bush. They no longer have ANYTHING to defend...yet they will quietly vote Republican next election.
Nothing will change..save perhaps a new crop of slimy Democrats will assume office..replacing the slimy Republicans presently occupying that office...
Wonder what part of "SOLD DOWN THE RIVER" people have such a hard time understanding.

Indeed, it comes as a shock. That is a part of growing up. Time to mature, people....

Makes sense. After those planes hit the towers the first military F-16's to the area didn't have a single weapon on them. Foreign AWACS aircraft controlled America's sky's "because we don't have enough AWACS aircraft".

The border patrol ain't allowed to have teeth, an order from Congress. Now National Guard are being sent by the President to the Mexican border to do absolutely nothing along with the border patrol.

I think theyy made a movie along these lines called 'wag the dog' to make Americans forget about the depression they are entering as the dollar loses it's value from all these imports with no tariffs. No jobs in America except for those that are willing to work for less than Federal law prescribes.

The Department of Defense made it mandatory that everyone get "Trafficing in persons" training...also known as slavery. An Airmen wrote a General asking why the General supports slavery by letting massage parlors that have smuggled women working there advertise their business in the local military weekly newspaper.

The General replied it was the cheapest way to do business. (letting local advertisers pay for the newspaper)

    Atleast he didn't lie.

I'm starting to notice more of the angry "persecution-complexed" young male latino types sliding the evil eye towards our happy citizens.

When they get tired of standing behind the scenes, working for whatever wage they can get, there will be revolution when they try to take that they "deserve". Their gangs are coming.

Sending the National Guard to patrol the border is about a joke and a half simply because they will provide no viable work.
