on-line sales etiquette

If you are going to list, be it a gun or anything else, for sale on-line. No matter the site, please have the courtesy to check your e-mail and give a simple response (i.e. item has been sold, etc.).

If you use an electronic medium to sell something, you have a responsibility to monitor that medium via normal channels (your e-mail address that you provided) during "normal" hours.

tikka, I completely agree any seller should routinely check their eml acct & reply to inquiries.

OTOH, I've had more cases than I can remember of replies returned as 'undeliverable' for whatever reasons. I would also so assert - vehemently - that a big reason people do on-line sales is so they need not be tied to the point of sale. I'm not going to sit at my desk waiting in case an eml inquiry should happen to arrive. I will check often, but it will be on my schedule, not 'normal business hours.' Besides, we are talking a world-wide market (admittedly most of it in the US given the items for sale). Which 'normal hours' should I be active? Those of NH or those of AK? Or something in between?

What you speak of, should go without saying.
    BUT, many times it doesn't.
It's a matter of ethics and courtesy.
