Sig or Glock?

What are your opinions on Glock vs. Sig in a .40 caliber pistol I'd like to buy one in the next month . Concealment is not important as it will be for holster use. Is the Sig worth $150 more than the Glock? I'll be buying new. Thanks - Old hickory

Hey Old Hickory! In response to your Sig vs Glock question, my personal experience finds that the Sig is the better bet and worth the extra money. Don't get me wrong, the Glock is a fine peice of machinery. However, it's just my opinion.... go for the SIG.

I have 4 .40's - a Glock 22C, Sig 2340, an HK USP, and an S&W 99 (my first .40). In order of accuracy, I rate 'em: HK, SIG, SW, Glock. In order of comfort & reliability, I rate 'em HK, SIG, SW, Glock. I have likes & dislikes with them all; my HK is the overall "top choice," the Sig's next.

This debate can go on ad nauseam on this board without a definite outcome. Both of the guns you mention are very good and only YOU know which one is right for you.Good luck with whichever one you choose, or better still, get one of each!

Dano, you as a police officer should know that accuracy is 90% shooter and 10% gun.

By my name you know what my choice would be, but that is for me, Sigs and Glocks have different ergonomics, hold and shoot both, choose which one you are comfortable with, bottom line is if you are not comfortable shooting the gun you might as well be holding a brick...

In review of your profile, and your lack of details regarding overall use, I suggest the Glock. They are simple, easy to clean, easy to shoot, virtually indestructable, more accurate out of the box than average shooters ever hope to be. A great choice for those who are looking for something they can own for many years with minimal maintenance and upkeep.Nothing against Sigs, just like simplicity.

My main decision in getting rid of my Glock was that I like something with a safety lever and the ability to pull the trigger a second time if the round doesn't go off, and have the hammer give you another chance. With a Glock, on the off chance the round doesn't go off (small chance, I know) you are out of luck and have to manually eject the round.Glocks are simple guns, and mine was reliable, but but I didn't feel safe carrying it with a round in the chamber as the only safety is a small inner trigger lever on the main trigger. I like a lever with a hammer block. It's all personal preference, that's just my stance.

I have a Sig P229 and a Glock 36 and the Sig is a better bet if you don't care about concealed carry issues. My local gunshop claims that out of the thousands of guns they've sent back to the manufacturer for repair, they've yet to return a Sig (for defect repair). Both are quality pistols IMHO.

The Preliminary returns show that Sig is carrying the day. With an overall 7-1 advantage it seems clear that unless Glock can get its voters to the polls immediately, it will suffer an ignominous defeat at the hands of the mighty Sig.There have been three fence sitters, so maybe the Glock still has a chance if the voters turn out in record numbers. With regard to your question, Sig.

Never let it be said that I let my party down.GLOCKI have two 9mm Glocks. A model 17 and a model 26. I think they're great.I went to the range with a friend who shoots a .40 Sig and I put him to shame with the accuracy of my model 17. I then shot his Sig and couldn't hit squat with it.Yeah, yeah, I know. He's a poor shot and I'm not used to his gun. He also couldn't hit squat with my Glock.I just like Glocks. So sue me.

njretcop--You bring up probably the most important point in this discussion. The Glock and the Sig are both great guns. However, it matters most which one YOU are able to shoot most accurately. If you give me a Beretta, I'll shoot well but I won't raise anyone's eyebrows. If you give me a Sig in the same caliber, I will shoot extremely well. I've only fired the Glock a few times and didn't like the way it felt in my hand. If it gives you confidence and is a joy to shoot, then you are more likely to have the right mindset when you want or need to pull the trigger. Hell, even my cheap S&W 457 is easier for me to shoot than a Beretta 92. Both can probably shoot just as well or better than you can so you need to find out which one suits you and go with it. If you do that, you won't be disappointed.

If you dont like pulling a 31/2 to 4 lb. trigger ever shot, don't buy the glock. It is double action every shot. I would personally buy the sig.

I own a G27 that is incredibly accurate that I carry everywhere. It is even my on-duty back-up, so I have complete confidence in it. My duty carry piece is a G22C that is a fine sidearm. Having said that it all comes down to what feels best to you. You will be doing yourself a disservice if you do not shoot both and evaluate which feels best and shoots best to you. Both are excellent pistols that are high in quality and accurate if you do your part. Take the extra time and decide for yourself after practical evaluation.

Glock 22 - Give me that $150 extra and add nite sites and hi-cap mag. Put the Glock and Sig side by side and I would take the Glock 100%. If you gave them both to me at same price I would take the Sig, go sell it and buy a Glock.I have shot all the above mentioned. However, I rate them a little different than the others.Glock, HK, Sig, Beretta.
