I have been looking for some Desiccant. Are there any suggestions for where I can order some preferably online?

It's expensive, but I like the silica gel in the aluminum cases with the blue indicator.I order from Cabelas www.cabelas.com but have never actually ordered online from them. The catalog numbers for the silica gel I see listed here are:22-0673-036 -033and -057Should make a search on their site easier.

What is the two letter prefix for these items? Cabelas isn't bringing anything up when I just enter the numbers. They ask for the two-letter prefix as well.[This message has been edited by idsman75 (edited 10-21-2001).]

I have found alot of products You buy have a little packet packed with item in package.Lots of shoes come with such packets,as do alot of electronic items.I have a local shoe store save ones for Me when they sell shoes, and people don.t take their old ones home. When asked why I want them,I just tell them I put them in My tool boxes to keep My tools from rusting.Dead Horse Walking

ids,Go from the home page to "Search by catalog item #" --upper left hand corner.Use the "CB" as given in the example; entering "CB-22-0673-036" pulled-up the silica gel, when I just checked it.I'm sure they have their 800-number listed on the home page too; I've only called in orders with them--haven't ordered through their site as I mentioned before. You should have their catalog; having a Cabela's catalog is one of those requirements to join that "Smokin' Jacket Club secret society" the boys have started here. (It's not listed in the general requirements, since it only applies to those of us who are part of the "inner secret circle".)

And of course founding fathers are required to be members of the "Cabela's Club" having a Cabela's visa card. They kick back a massive 1% as credit at Cabela's I figure it is going to take three more years before I have enough credit to pick up a free rifle from them.

I have their catalog. I'm looking for desiccant packets--not silica gel. I appreciate the help though.

Look in your phone book under machine shops. Look for one that says Davenports, Acme, Brown & Sharp. Go to the shop and ask for the stock handler. Whenever these shops get barstock from overseas it comes in a big wooden box with a cloth bag, the size of a sandwich bag, full of dessicant. These bags get tossed in the trash where I work. Ive got 4 of them in my safe. I keep all my ammo & reloading powders in big plastic boxes with one of these in them. I haven't had a problem with excess moisture yet. In spite of my guns & stuff being stored in an un heated area of my house. I just throw them in the oven every now and then to keep them working. best of all they're free!
