Opening day in Southern Wisconsin 11/19/16. Stand was about 200 yards from the cabin for the doe and about 300 yards for the buck. My back was hurting so I didn't want to walk to far!
Legal shooting time was 6:29AM. I shot her at 7:04AM.
Browning BAR 30-06 about 60 yards in a cut bean field.

Left the cabin about 3:30PM, and this fella came walking by about 40 yards away. He was in some real thick brush and I could only see his antlers at first. He then stepped into a small clearing at 4:20PM. Done!
Remington 721 30-06 with a custom stock my Dad made over 50 years ago.

You had a productive day.
And fiery auto crashes
Some will die in hot pursuit
While sifting through my ashes
Some will fall in love with life
And drink it from a fountain
That is pouring like an avalanche
Coming down the mountain
Congrats on you hunting prowess!
A tear in my eye and a toast to my Dad in the sky.
I kissed the rifle and sat smiling........
It was truly a very special hunting moment.
The worse day ever in the field beats the best day ever in the office HANDS DOWN!
Looks to me like you beat an ENTIRE YEAR in the office in a single day in the woods!
