According to North American Hunter,a Publication of the North American Hunting Club. The State of California has proposed an ammendmeent that would tax California Sportsmen to compensate for medical expenses accured by victims of illegal firearms activity. Senate Constitutional Amendment 12,is a proposal to levy a five cent tax on each round of ammunition sold in California.

I guess the citizens of California are about to take another Blow from their Goverment. For more info visit www.ussportsmen.org

Why aren't the taxing the estates of criminals in prison? What have sportsmen to do with it. California proposes, California proposes .. isn't there an old Danny Kaye song?

How long after they pass it do you think it will be before the rest try to adopt it as well?

When Clinton left office they gave him a 21 gun salute. Its a damn shame they all missed....

Boy am I glad I do not live in Cali.

If you will blame gun makers for every shooting then blame car maker for every car accident.

North American Hunter is a little bit late and a little bit out of date. Through the efforts of the NRA, the CRPA and the California NRA Members Councils - this bill (which would Not have imposed a tax but WOULD have put an initiative to for the tax on the November ballot) - this bill has been killed - at least for this year.
It will be back next year so the fight isn't over yet but it can, and will, be stopped. For more info, go to http://www.nramemberscouncils.com/

Don't think you are safe from this tax outside of Kalifornia. An ammo tax is on the "top ten" to do list for our next PA governor, Ed Rendell. "What's a few cents a bullet when the average deer hunter in PA spends well over $350.00 on deer hunting per year?" "No, I don't want to keep anyone out of the deer woods or take your deer guns." Good people in PA and other states WAKE UP because it will be here before you know it and you will vote them in. Surprisingly several fellows at the range said that the next PA gov's ammo tax is not a bad idea as long as it is to help fight crime. Does anyone know of a criminal who is worried about the price of firearms and ammo or the cost of an ammo tax and will a tax help deter that criminal?

    I hope it happens nationwide.

I hope they make it some ridiculous percentage like a 500% increase, thus making ammunition virtually unaffordable.

Then I hope they start a 500% retroactive tax on "arsenals" (anybody with over 200 rounds)...compounded annually.

Then...maybe...just maybe people will get off their * and do something.
