So get off my back!!!!Just kidding! I really did buy one though. I took it out to the range this past weekend when I shot my buddies MP5. I was pretty neat! Since I was warned about it by the kind posters here, I have thus far managed to avoid the infamous M1 Thumb!Anywho, it was a neat little shooter, but I honestly don't know what all the hype is about. Other than owning a piece of history, I see it as kind of a "collection-type" piece and not a justifiable addition to my self-defense arsenal. I'll give it a little more of a workout before I make my final decision, but after shooting my M1A, I think the Garand might be getting re-sold.

Evil...I'm proud of you. Now if you really like your M1A I guess you could sell your M1, but don't be too quick. With just a little bit of work it can be made into an incredibly accurate weapon. And with the .30-06 caliber you actually have a much better 1000 yard weapon than the M-14. Some people might argue that point but in any case it might take a little time to grow on you. Does this mean I have to take Baby Evil out of my will? Beach

Evil......If you decide to sell it, you shouldn't have any trouble. Just hang it on your shoulder at the next gun show and it'll be gone, at your price, in a few minutes.Mudge the Garand aficionado

Why would you want to sell it. Don't you hunt or target shoot?

Having had a snoot full of the M1, its'weight and its'problems in the Army I've never felt the need to own one. I'll agree with ATF to chuck it and move on.

Beach:Of course not! I...errr...Baby Evil still wants your guns!Creant:Of course I hunt. I've just got a better rifle for the job: My M1A. The Garand is neat, but not what I need in a rifle.

Evil,Send your Garand to the Home For Old Garands.Oh, don't pay any attention to the fact that the address for the HFOG is the same as my address.

Oh Evil One: Your M1A is a passible substitute for the M1 Garand but I prefer the increased power (about 8%) of the 30-06 over the .308. To me the longer range and ability to punch through more wall is better than the increased capacity of the 20 rd. mag. vs the 8 rd. clip.Someday I will run a test to see if the 20 rd. mag actually gives you more rounds per minute. Seem to me that you can insert a new clip a lot faster than you can change mags.
