Do recalls make guns more valuable?

The Vektor Division of Denel product safety is in the process of recalling all CP1 Vektors. The claim is that they are dangerous. From a reliable source I understand that someone altered one, dropped it and it went off. He allegedly sued Vektor, which they settled, and they decided to recall all Vektors. This is the modern smooth gun that is sometimes referred to the space gun. They used to be plentiful and now they are all gone. A year ago I even advertised "Wanted One" in Gunbroker and received no replies. Their rebate calls for you to send it back and they will send you what you paid for it? Plus an incentive, which I believe is a coupon to buy other Vektor products. Isn't supply and demand what it's all about in gun collecting? You never see these a gun shows for sale. What's the liability in me not selling mine back to Vektor and watching it appreciate?

Rare doesn't always mean valuable. Demand for the item has to be there as well. Considering the bad press a gun gets in a recall, it could be years before you could recoup your cost, never mind showing a profit. Also consider lack of replacement parts and sales value
drops even further. Buy a good gun instead.
