    Just one BRAIN?

Most people I've heard from like them and have been happy with them ... check here for lots of good info: http://www.gunboards.com/forums/UltraBoard.cgi?action=Headlines&BID=30&SID=1954542

I'm not sure if the current crop is all coming from the same source. I've seen some where the gun looks almost new. In any case, since the CETME became the G3 which became the MP5, in terms of the basic design, I imagine if you get a good one you'd be a very happy 308 shooter. SOG is currently running a special, by the way.

CETMEs are lots of fun. Be prepared to do some heavy duty cleaning
and perhaps a little tinkering before function is 100 percent. Also, wear hearing protection, as these guns are loud.

My buddy bought one at a gun show last winter. He has all the accessories, mods, etc., that comes with one or that you can get for it. It is really impressive looking. When out at the range he shoots a few rounds and then tinkers with a problem. One time it was his loads, another was the mags that came with it, then another time it was some thing-a-ma-jig that the gunsmith had to adjust, and so on and so on. I would hate to be facing a real enemy. While he tinkers at the range my Garand keeps a barking with anything you can feed it, that hi-cap 20 round mag & .308 cal. isn't an advantage if the rifle does'nt shoot.

Pack slow, fall stable, pull high, hit dead center.

I saw one a couple of gun shows back. The guy was asking $600 or best offer, which I thought was a bit high. The wood looked so brand new it had that "orange" cast to it. I mean unmarked. The metal also appeared in great shape. I am not sure all these are coming from the same place. Frankly, I'd rather have one of the G3 Carbines but the ones I've seen up close don't appear to be in great shape. The CETMEs appear to be in better condition.

Anyway, the CETMEs are advertised on http://www.southernohiogun.com/ for $299 at the moment. I don't know if that means they'll sell to anyone who sends them an FFL or whether they'll insist on talking to your dealer.

some of you may recall my post awhile back asking if i should sell my sks (paratrooper) and get a CETME. well i hung on to the sks, but at 299 i can afford the cetme out of pocket. does anybody have any info on the HESSE receiver verse the ones from century. who big of inpact can the receiver have if its not quite as good. is a perhaps a lower quality receiver the cause of such a low price. any info would be greatly appreciated. if these are good quality i don't want to miss this sale.

    thanks

    Spanish CETME 308 caliber Rifle
The CETME is the Spanish predessessor to the H&K G3. These rifles have new stamped steel Century Arms receivers, and very good condition Spanish parts, with wood stocks and come with one 20rd magazine.
    ID #: 15-524
Price: $298.50 This is J&G right now, I just got this email a couple days ago.http://www.jgsales.com/jgspecials.html

    Thanks, Grizztribefans@sssnet.com

Century does a cast stainless receiver and also a sheet steel receiver. The cheaper model selling now is the sheet steel version.
I've had both and each has it's own quirks. Have not finished testing, so I don't know if there is a lot of difference in accuracy yet.
