I found treasures in the attic!

Well I was putting some stuff in my folk's attic that I have not been in since I was a kid. Dad told me to look around up there (since it's to hard for him to get up there because of his age) So I spent about half and hour moving stuff around checking things out. Having flash backs of my child hood, the train set, hot wheels tracks (the orange ones) old clothes, Dad's WW II uniform that was half rotted.

Then in a 4' long box that was tattered and stashed in the corner with a bunch of old fishing poles, I decided to look. Well at this point I about crapped my pants! Inside was a J.Stevens No. 14? little scout! And another J. Stevens Falling block .22 (I will post a pic when I can) I am not sure of the second one's model. Dad said I can have them, But I had to ask "what the heck were they doing up there? He said he hid them from us kids so we would not play with them, and he just flat out forgot they were up there.

Here is the pic. of the one I am not sure of, it is a model
"B" Sharpshooter. No serial#s that I could find. the bore is dusty but buy the looks of it I bet its got less than 200 rounds through it.
I would have posted a pic of the model 14 1/2 but my camera Batts. died.

drobs yep, that was always a standing rule in the house.

kingjoey The little Scout has a little rust but for being about (I think) 90 years old it looks ok. The other one as soon as I figure out the model looks to be about 75% the bluing is a little dull (Lack of oil) the wood is in outstanding shape.

I just called him a while ago and asked SO WHAT else you got stashed"
    [;)][;)][;)]

0311marine I did find a bayonet but I dont know if is U.S. or Jap.

Way cool! We never had an attic, so in my house they would have been in the basement and solid rust. Oil them up, but don't destroy that precious patination they talk about on Antiques Road Show. [8D]

Congrats !!! Just had similar experiance with my grandad . Loaned him my mossburg 346 to kill a groundhog behind the garage a while back . Whenever I remembered it , and went to get it to clean & oil it . We got to talking guns , he tells me he's got a .303 in the house somewhere . After a little looking he found it way back in the corner of a closet . The thing had been in there for over 45 yrs. Ended up he just handed it to me . Have a posting on expert forum to find a little about it . So there is treasure in them dar dark corners of the house . [:D]

FrancF- I couldn't find anything either, even in SingleShots by de Haas. What I found interesting is that no other Stevens had only 2 action pins[Bolts]. I'll keep looking-Bob

Bobby- Those 44s are much overrated!!!But since you are interested in accuracy, I guess I could part with a J.C.Higgins[Marlin] single shot in a straight across trade. You're Welcome-Bob

Bob Thanks! for talking the time to look! the 14 1/2 J.Stevens little scout, from what I got out of my Mom & Dad, may have been a proto type (cheaper model) for what became, the model "Sharpshooter". That model was made around (1920). They god bless them, can't remember. My moms expert NRA days ended about 1950-60.

My grand father has a ww2 1911 hidden away in his house somewhere, ive been meaning to ask him to let me see it, if its not a rust heap yet he should try and keep it that way and get it cleaned up and put in a display box =)

But yea, grats on your find =)
