Oh.....Actually, I was surprised that our local WalMart is saying Merry Christmas all over the place while the one just 30 miles north is doing the bah humbug thing. Must be a store by store policy...[:0][:0]

my step daughter works at a Target in Jacksonville Florida. She told me yesterday that they will be fired for saying "Merry Christmas" but that they have signs all over the store with it on them. Makes no sense to me.

When my daughter was maybe ten, she told her music teacher "Merry Christmas," and he smiled cheerfully and replied, "Happy Hanukkah." No offense taken, none given on either side. Wouldn't it be nice if everyone would just relax and adopt that attitude?

I'm sure if you said "Allah Akbar", that would be acceptable. I'm so sick of this s*h*i*t. [:(!]

If I'm speaking to, or e mailing someone who I know would be offended by "Merry Christmas" I simply say "seasons greetings".

The proper way to say it is "Allah hu-Akbar." Translation: God is great.

that is so stupid. if you say "merry christmas" to someone, that's too frikkin' bad if they don't like it cuz they're not celebrating it... because you are! so what's the problem?!

do you get to be insulted if someone comes up to you and says "happy hannuka" or "have a happy starving ramadan" or whatever?? no, because that would be too stupid, so why is it supposed to be not stupid when someone rags on you for saying "merry christmas"?

it's the liberal "victimist" ideals that's being pushed on the American people. everybody is "supposed" to be afraid of hurting everyone else, you can't do what you want for fear of insulting "someone else" who shouldn't be insulted in the first place.

I say, you're living your life, not everyone else's, so when someone tells you "you can't say that, I'm going to snitch on you to the PC nazis" tell them "F999 Off! how about that then?" so you can get a good HO-HO-HO out of it and be merry once again.

I find it a little confusing and somewhat offensive that anyone would be offended because I wish them to be Merry during the Christmas Holiday. I know I'm not offended when someone wishes me to be Happy during the Chanukah (Hanukkah) Holidays. While I was with the Saudis nobody ever wished me to be Happy during Ramadan, but I would have been willing. I don't think I have been in a Quonset Hut since Quonset became a holiday, but I might be able to get happy for that too. I understand the atheists have a new holiday now. I think I could lift a glass of cheer for that if the occasion ever arises. I can't figure out if people are just too sensitive or we just live in a world full of a??holes.

Great post, JamesRK, fortunately, though, those attempting to tear down the American culture do not measure up to be typical a..holes.

Fishkiller; I'm talking about some people I know who very much dislike The Lord, His Church, and His people. There is no point in intentionally pissing these people off, when we can offer a hand of friendship given with respect. I'm not going to leave someone out because he dislikes Christ. Thats my opinion where this situation is concerned.
