For some reason I thought you had a Savage 22HP. Well here is a link to a guy selling bullets and ammo.

This picture you posted on another thread caught my eye not only with the fine sample of checked rifle stock, but also the Iron Ornament.
Did you make it and what is it supposed to be? I am guessing a cowboy but I may be way off.
Do you have any other Iron Ornaments?

I love the pictures of your grandson reloading 7.7 jap ammo. It brought back memories of my youth, reloading with my dad and sister. My sister and I would load up all my dads skeet rounds and 38-357 rounds for his matches. You ought to take that picture and frame it. By the way, I will be shooting my garand either this weekend, if its not to cold, or next. So those enblocs will be coming your way real soon. Does your grandson shoot with you???? My favorite past time is shooting with my son. He is not into reloading but he loves to shoot. He is in med school right now, so time is precious when we do get to go out to the range. Hopefully he can find some time to go with me in the next couple of weeks.Oakie

thank you for your kind words on my 'my GB friends' thread. I have an inquery. I wrote a 'book' a while back- I started writing on pen and paper and wrote over 130 pages. I know i have much much much more to fill in while I type it up... But once I get it typed what should my 1st step be?
Its a suspense story and a survival manual mixed into one. Probably more of a movie script cause there is alot of dialogue- but Ive never held an actual script.
My mother had a book published, but she had to pay to do it. Just looking for the next step.

Just a note to say thanks for the encouragement. I really appreciate it. Not sure it's my calling but it sure does make me feel better at times. I thank you for taking the time to give an amatuer some insight and a few kind words.

    Clouder..

    Title 10, Subtitle A, Part II, Chapter 39, ? 688

? 688. Retired members: authority to order to active duty; duties

    (a) Authority.- Under regulations prescribed by the Secretary of Defense, a member described in subsection (b) may be ordered to active duty by the Secretary of the military department concerned at any time.

    (c) Duties of Member Ordered to Active Duty.- The Secretary concerned may, to the extent consistent with other provisions of law, assign a member ordered to active duty under this section to such duties as the Secretary considers necessary in the interests of national defense.

    (d) Exclusion of Officers Retired on Selective Early Retirement Basis.- The following officers may not be ordered to active duty under this section:

....(1) An officer who retired under section 638 of this title.

    ....(2) An officer who-

........(A) after having been notified that the officer was to be considered for early retirement under section 638 of this title by a board convened under section 611 (b) of this title and before being considered by that board, requested retirement under section 3911, 6323, or 8911 of this title; and

........(B) was retired pursuant to that request.

    (e) Limitation of Period of Recall Service.-

....(1) A member ordered to active duty under subsection (a) may not serve on active duty pursuant to orders under that subsection for more than 12 months within the 24 months following the first day of the active duty to which ordered under that subsection.

....(2) Paragraph (1) does not apply to the following officers:

........(A) A chaplain who is assigned to duty as a chaplain for the period of active duty to which ordered.

........(B) A health care professional (as characterized by the Secretary concerned) who is assigned to duty as a health care professional for the period of active duty to which ordered.

........(C) An officer assigned to duty with the American Battle Monuments Commission for the period of active duty to which ordered.

........(D) An officer who is assigned to duty as a defense attache or service attache for the period of active duty to which ordered.

    (f) Waiver for Periods of War or National Emergency.- Subsections (d) and (e) do not apply in time of war or of national emergency declared by Congress or the President.

    Title 10, Subtitle C, Part II, Chapter 575, ? 6485

? 6485. Members of the Fleet Reserve and Fleet Marine Corps Reserve: authority to recall

    (a) A member of the Fleet Reserve or the Fleet Marine Corps Reserve may be ordered by competent authority to active duty without his consent-

    ....(1) in time of war or national emergency declared by Congress, for the duration of the war or national emergency and for six months thereafter;

....(2) in time of national emergency declared by the President; or

....(3) when otherwise authorized by law.

    (b) In time of peace any member of the Fleet Reserve or the Fleet Marine Corps Reserve may be required to perform not more than two months' active duty for training in each four-year period.

Clouder, the above is part of the reason Fleet Reserve and Retired personnel receive RETAINER PAY or RETIRED PAY instead of a PENSION.

The tenth was the anniversary of his passing. Back in January, I finally sent his wife the gift I made. Last week I received a letter from his lovely wife, letting me know how much she loved the gift. She also let me know how much he enjoyed his time on the forums and spoke graciously about all the members. I just wanted to share this with you guys. She and her children and grandchildren are doing well. Oakie

Hey Clouder, do you still visit the "other" forum that TallTLynn visits?

Upon returning home, my computer crashed and I lost a lot of favorite sites.

Would you please post the site address for me?

    Thank-You Sir![:)]

I asked in 2 different bookstores (independent) for your book and struck out. Do you know if any were shipped to any indy bookstores in the Mpls/StPaul area or do I have to get them to order it from somewhere? I try and avoid chain stores as much as possible.
