More proof of a lot of Americans being idiots

"Even those making over six figures said they struggle to make ends meet , the report said. Nearly 1 in 10 of those making $100,000 or more said they usually or always live paycheck to paycheck, and 59 percent of those in that salary range said they were in the red."

I would say that 78% of America are idiots but some of those paycheck to paycheck folks may just doing the best they can.
Why don't we go to school and work on the weekends and take the week off!

I haven't lived paycheck to paycheck since I was 19 years old.

I have always saved money even when I was a PVT making less than 300 a month. I put my Airborne pay($55) in a savings account every month.

I'll bet 100% of those 78% buy bottled water and have home delivered pizza more than once in a while. They have cell phones and their kids do too. Probably more cars than there are adult drivers in the family too. These are the wealthiest "broke" people the world and history has ever seen. Having said that, I suppose they're doing what the government encourages them to do - spend, spend, spend and fuel the ever growing economy. And staying just this side of broke probably keeps them more indebted to their job, which is basically a tax revenue creating vehicle for the government.

The average American IQ is 98. Half of the country is below that.
75 is considered moron. 135 is considered gifted. 75 is closer to 98 than 135, so most people aren't really that sharp.

That's a cop out. My school integrated in 1965 when I was in the 3rd grade.

I went to public school except for a couple of years of Catholic high school for the 10th and 11th. I quit in the 12th and took my GED because school wasn't teaching me anything I didn't already know.

My IQ is a little higher than 135 and I know two people locally that went through the same schools I did that are the same as me. In fact, one is the airline buddy I mentioned a couple of days ago.

In Japan, and most Asian countries, education is valued and the students respond accordingly. In America, education is the Big Bang Theory and parents don't give a damn. College is a ticket punch, not an institution of higher learning. Ask a average college grad to syphon a gallon of gasoline or why Operation Barbarossa was ultimately a failure? Chicks would be total losses, and most males would be too.

I was very lucky. My parent were intelligent and took a major interest in my learning. American parents are why the Millennials are so stupid.

How many guys on here piss and moan that their kids are Liberals? Whose fault is that? The parents that didn't teach them and left the job for school. Any gardener will tell you if you don't tend your garden, it's going to be overgrown with weeds.

The Romans went stupid from pewter plates.
The Americans just went stupid. Now that dope is legal, being a dope is legal.

After 1971 no cash, no purchase. Seems to have worked OK. Doubt I'd pay $100,000 cash for a new mercedes.

Its all in what you want to show.Around here the majority of people with money don't show it.Many millionaires live in small houses, shop at Goodwill stores, and would never think about buying a new vehicle.

    It's amazing how much money you can save if;

1 - you don't have a bad habit (drinking, drugs, gambling, WOMEN, Etc.)

    2 - you don't rent

3 - you don't pay interest on anything

    4 - you don't have car payments.

5 - you don't have too many "good" habits like golf, boating, racing, sporting events, etc.

I have a friend who buys season tickets to all panther games, goes to races, has a boat, motorcycle, classic car, and he's always in a money pinch. DUH!

last time I rented was 1982. house and property was paid off in 1999. haven't carried a high interest credit card balance since 2005. I did borrow money from one for 2% for 18 months to re-roof the house and put in a new HVAC system. I did that to keep from dipping into savings that has been making 4% with no risk. It ran me $200 to borrow 10k and I have it down to $1800 with 6 payments left.

I will borrow at 2% if I have a SERIOUS need to do something around the house. I'm doing a hot tub next for my aching bones[;)]

oh and the wife and I make less than 80k a year together.

No big suprise. Most people have no idea how to manage money. It's real simple cash flow. Don't spend more than you take in.

I disagree. We used to be excel at a whole list of things before there were no penalties for failure.
"Participation" is not interchangeable with "winning".
Putting forth a "best effort" is not interchangeable with "yeah, I was there".
Demonizing education for lack of parenting is another level of failure.

I got divorced back in May...had separated prior to that.

When my wife left, I lost half of my household income, as we roughly made the same amount of money. I kept the house, and basically all of the bills.

I now have more free money than when I was married. Why? Because she wanted to go out to eat 3 or 4 times a week. I can't believe how much money was going out just for food.

Projected to be a Category 3 hurricane, Harvey is expected to hit the Houston area Friday, according to the National Weather Service. Massive flooding and major power outages could occur this weekend, and it's extremely important to be prepared, says the NWS.

As a result, Houstonians are experiencing city-wide closures and chaos at grocery stores and gas pumps. Naturally, the internet's ablaze with folks who are heeding the advice of professionals and stocking up on the essentials: alcohol.

"It's kind of hectic, chaotic," Louis Tellez, beer and wine specialist for the H-E-B off San Felipe St., said. He arrived at the store at 12:30 p.m. Thursday, and he said the business was steady all day. "We're doing the best we can to accommodate shoppers."

Most people are car poor. Since they aren't paying cash they buy a much higher priced car & pay massive interest. Then when they get tired of that car they buy a new one BEFORE they even finish paying for the old one.
I can't get through to my son. I tell him to keep a car for ten years & after it is paid for keep saving what he was paying & then pay CASH for the new one. Earn interest instead of paying it. He just rolls his eyes & laughs me off. I'm 77 years old & I have never paid one cent in interest for a car, boat or motorcycle. I paid off my mortgage in around 1986 & bought the next two houses with the proceeds from the previous ones.
The last one involved a bit of luck. Building was going crazy & the house I bought that was supposed to take 6 months instead took two years. During that time prices SOARED. I wound up selling my house to my neighbor who wanted it for his daughter so I didn't even have to pay a real estate agent. I had expected to pay out quite a bit & instead wound up with a bit left over. I was even able to keep my tax base due to a one time old geezer part of prop 13 but my taxes went way down because the new house didn't have a Mello-Roos bond.
