Handguns in California

I would like to get straight in my mind if handguns can be shipped to California to a FFL holder if bought in another state. I often see statements in online auctions that say "Cannot or Will not ship to California". Is it against the law or is it just a policy of the seller? Also, what about shipping from a town in California to another town in California? Thanks for your help.Muley or should I say Mule Headed?

In KA you must have any pistol or rifle, purchased in another state shipped to a dealer, who will properly process all necessary documentation for the sale to the new owner, living in KA. It is the law.

The PRK has decreed that all handguns sold in that political subdivision pass a "drop test." Obsolete guns, guns no longer in production, will likely never be tested, and therefore will not be sold there.Take the Colt Diamondback for example. In order to sell it in PRK, Colt would have to submit a sample for testing. The gun is long out of production, so Colt will not likely send one. Nothing wrong with the gun, but since it was not drop tested, no sale.Guns currently in lawful possession are OK, which is why you sometimes see want ads for a particular gun, "in Kalifornia." The buyer knows he can only buy one that is currently there.

Thanks guys. I've just moved into Kal, so I have a lot of studying to do to see if I might be a Terrorist or not. Another question....I'm still in the process of moving here. What about my guns, of all kinds, that I will be bringing into the state? Any special requirements to comply with current laws? All my pistols and revolvers are standard shooters. No exotic crap. Thanks.......

gruntled......you gotta be kidding. I've been up all night trying to figure this out. But it boils down to one thing. I'm an instant criminal. Just for having the handguns that I used to shoot against LEO's in NRA sanctioned matches is illegal if I don't register them. Just getting my old grandfathers Peacemaker Colt down to "confession" could be a criminal act. I left Az to get away from the increasing gun control laws, but I guess I haven't been paying attention.

We're in the same boat. This place sux, don't it? Since I haven't been here for 60 days my trash ain't registered yet. Day 61 and a little fib seems like a good idea.

Like I said in a post last week , let's get the few remaining amreicans out of Kal and put a big fence up to keep Diane F. and all the rest of them commie$@#!$@# in there. Infact lets just give Kal. back to mexico. I don't live in Kal but I have been there enough to know that Kal. is the most anti free American state in the union. Things happen in that "perfect" state that makes me want to vomit. Most people out there have a "holier than thou" attitude. Any state that would enact laws like they have and then use the excuse "it's for the better good of the people" aint nothin but plain old fashoined comminism. P.S I cant spell so dont laugh. Maybe I can go to Kal and learn from the perfect ones.

Since I am moving onto the base soon I ain't registering JACK! Only PMO can search and they already know of my guns. Registered with PMO, no bussiness of anyone else. I like that policy.

7mm...So, who's laffing about yer speling? My big problem is that I moved BACK into the state. I temporarily forgot about the Q____Srunning this place. Notice how I didn't say Queers? I'm polite that way.Seriously, what about ammo? Is there some kind of record kept when buying centerfire handgun ammo like where I just came from?Muley

I don't think they keep secret records on the handgun ammo, they just check ID to make sure you're over 18, but the rest of the gun laws certainly are ridiculous. Most of the LEO's don't even know the in and out's of them. I can't imagine anyone moving here on their own accord. The Northern part of the state has great hunting and fishing but having to put up with the screwy laws the southern half of the state approves is very irritating.

will270win: I suspect you may not have to register them. You don't need a new driver's license or vehicle tags & the same exclusion may apply. I would send an E-Mail to the above site I noted to confirm this. If they say you are exempt you should keep a copy of the E-Mails. You had me worried for a minute since if yours guns were not registered they could not be transferred here. I then realized that the gun in question is legal in Kalifornia & the FFL toFFL transfer satisfies the law even if it is considered an out-of-state transfer.
