raging bull comes ported ruger is not,but the rugers deign should handel a scope much better, with the recoil factor that is..

    The Ruger is heavy enough, you shouldn't need the porting. If you have to have it, MagNaPort will do it for you pretty reasonably.

    I've heard bad things about the Raging Bulls falling apart after a few hundred rounds due to the extreme recoil involved. It's pretty tough for ANY double action revolver to handle that large of a payload.

    I'd go with the Ruger. Taurus makes a decent gun but nothing nearly as tough and dependable as the Ruger.

    Just get a Freedom Arms Revolver Model 83 and you want look back. I have one, and it is the best revolver I have owned. The FA is by far better balanced than either the Ruger or Taurus. IMO, you will never fire a 454 Casull in double action mode if you are intending on any accuracy while hunting. Boomer

    I agree with the above either the ruger or the freedom arms, I had a Taurus model 608 that I bought new for a very good price "279" turned out that in my opinion it wasn't worth 50 cents..
