Don't know what it is but it's RARE!

I love these listings, seller starts off with an item description as RARE then admits doesn't know anything about it, usually a silly inflated price also...Asphincter says what?

Heh heh heh...I know some people that have bought low-mileage little-old-lady vehicles that were only driven in town at speeds not exceeding 35 mph. They had big powerful long-lasting engines and were built like tanks. First time they hit the highway something always breaks. Usually it involves an engine that was never broken in properly.

Rare has different a meaning, to different people.I say buyer beware, it's rare that a seller would be 100% HONEST.A favorite disclaimer is always at the end that says "I don't know to much about this"Just like you said.[This message has been edited by turbo (edited 01-21-2002).][This message has been edited by turbo (edited 01-21-2002).]

OK, Guilty as charged.I listed a .223 to .22LR conversion mag and gave it the "Rare" billing. I don't know who made it, I don't know how old it is. I do know that it is a conversion mag nestled inside of a Colt 20 rounder, and that I bought it from a guy who was in the military quite some time ago.I listed it as rare because I've only seen one other in 17 years of gunshows and gun shops. What would you call it?

When fresh out of high school, I decided to try my hand at selling cars before hitting college. I did it for about 2 years and one time I actually did take a trade in from a little old lady who only drove the car on Sundays!Well, I had some customer's a few days later and they were looking for just the type of car that the little old lady had traded in. I said "Well, I took something similiar to that in on trade just a couple of days ago. Let's see if it's still on the lot!"After a short search we found the little old lady's car. As I was giving my pitch on the car, I ended with saying "Not to mention that it was driven by a little old lady and was well maintained!"They couple thought that I was lying through my teeth and got pissed and left! Little did they know that it really WAS a "little old lady" car!

I had a elderly women in her 70's buy a Hungarian AK from me once. (This was back in about 1987, so yes it was a pre-ban.) Anyway, I always wondered what the guy on the other end of that deal was going to say when she went to sell it years later or it was in her estate auction after her passing. "Yes this AK was only shot on Sundays by a little old lady...) BTW, it was a underfolder, she found it was easier for her to hold without the solid stock. And know she wasn't buying it for anyone else, she thought it looked pretty and would be fun to shoot. (She was right of course) She was a solid old farm wife, she looked like she could handle it, even at her age. I never saw her again, I don't know whatever happened to her or her AK.

I once saw a Bust Silver Dollar on a bid board that had a small hole drilled in itto make it a jewery piece. It was listed as"Rare holed variety". I assumed it was someones rather good sense of humor & bid (& bought) it. I have found an interest in the history of currency & history of firearms to dovetail very nicely.
