Zionism

In some discussions that I've read on this forum and elsewhere, I've seen the term "Zionism" or "Zionist" bandied about. That always raises my antennae because in my experience it can be a code-word for anti-Semitism. I'm not accusing anyone here of that, but it does raise some questions.Zionism was the name given to the international "movement for the return of the Jewish people to their homeland and the resumption of Jewish sovereignty in the Land of Israel" [Jewish Virtual Library definition] in 1893 by Nathan Birnbaum. Theodor Hertzl convened the first Zionist Congress in 1897 and is generally credited with getting the movement started. The Zionists finally achieved their goal when the British Mandate ended and the modern state of Israel began in 1948.The founding of Israel cannot be viewed separately from the experiences of the Jews in the Diaspora, including centuries of persecution during inquisitions and pogroms, leading up to and including the Holocaust of the Second World War. Correctly or incorrectly, the consensus of the major powers in 1948, including the United States, was that the dynamic of persecution could be permanently changed only with the creation of Israel as a home and safe haven for Jews worldwide. So what does it mean when someone calls a Jew a "Zionist" today? Doesn't a Zionist mean a Jew who supports the continued existence of the modern state of Israel? Or are those who use that term trying to say that Zionists are Jews who support everything Israel does no matter what? That's not now and never was what Zionism means. If you are someone who uses that term, please enlighten the rest of us as to what you mean.

To me, "Zionist", any dictionary definition aside, means one who feels that because he is Jewish, all others must be beholden to him/her because of past disgressions and must owe something. I don't owe spit. How many others have had a country created for them by world doctrine? Displaced Poles? "Boat People"? Folks who lived through "No Irish need apply"? Finns who the "reds" threw out because of their anti-socialist beliefs? Latvians, Estonians, Lithuanians, Bulgarians, Hungarians or the multitude of others who were slaves to the Soviet scumbags for generations? Shall we damand recompense from the Swedes to the Finns for the hundreds of years that the Swedes used the Finns as conscripts to fight their wars? Should we give this land back to the Indians (no, not "Native Americans....Indians)? Should we give the whole world back to the first ..uhhhh...oh, yeah!! They already can have dual citizenship (unlike any other country on earth), not a year goes by that they don't remind us, with a new movie of 6 million killed by Hitler, even though Stalin quadrupled that amount, and the Japanese quintupled the amount IN CHINA ALONE!! People who are still searching for WW2 "criminals", men in their 90's who just did what they were told upon penalty of death, and have to live with that alone, must attempt to hide their identities to avoid persecution from the Zionists. But if you're a stinking socialist, good for you, doesn't matter if you were killing in an equal-opportunity way for Stalin!! Climb aboard, let's make some movies to make everyone feel sorry for the Jews!!! Hey, Israel, where the hell are you in Afghanistan where our boys are dying?? Guess there's no money in it, eh???? Yeah, that's real honorable, since Israel would last approximately 1/2 of a second without the tacit support of YOUR tax dollars going out daily. Am I anti-semitic? I don't think so. I'm anti-whining from an ethnic group which controls the world by making a threat of being anti-semitic to anyone who opposes even one scrap of their agenda. WHICH IS MONEY. Oops!! I went and done it! I was politically incorrect!!! Dagnab it!!!!!When I get the video tape translated, I'll send it out to anyone who wants to hear, first-hand, how the liberated Jews went on a rampage in Europe and killed everyone in their path. What? Isn't in the history books? Ahh, then it can't be true, right? Hell, Simon and Shcuster would never hide anything, right?? Bahhhhh!!!!!!!!!Shouldn't have done this, I was going to stay out of this mess, but screw it. Right is right and wrong is wrong. Being Jewish doesn't change that fact.

timberbeast, thanks for your honest reply. I would just like to point out that my experience has been that there are good and bad in every ethnic group, people are people. For example, I was surprised to learn that some black people with lighter skin feel superior to black people with darker skin. You might think that someone who had experienced prejudice on the basis of skin color would be careful not to do the same thing. Now I am no longer surprised by that sort of behavior. Also, everybody is in it for the money, especially when they say they're not. Just watch the strain in a family of any ethnic background when there's money and property to divide after someone passes on.

You're right, Gordian. Hell, what do we work for? Just seems a bit tilted to me, that certain groups can't be criticized, without being labeled something bad by doing it. People are people, there's only one race, the human race. I've seen the skin-color debates too between blacks. You'd think we could get past all of this.....damn!! I keep trying, and somebody keeps daily telling me who (as a group) I shouldn't say anything bad about. Makes me plain sick. Every iota of modern media seems to ignore the fact that only one thing is to be "judged"...the INDIVIDUAL!! Thanks for not taking offense to my fed-up ranting.

The term Zionist has been whitewashed considerably since the days of Haganah when Israel was Palestine and the Stern Gang terrorist organization was bombing and hanging the British administrators when they could.

Hey Beast: Right f--kin' on! My sentiments exactly. I printed your first post, to share with some folks I know.Hey Blade: If you were surprised to learn of the "shade of black" discrimination among American blacks, you must not have spent any time in the military. I saw it every day while in the Army. The light-skinned dudes had nothing but contempt and ridicule for their darker-skinned brothers, and the purple ones had no friends at all.

It would also help to look up the word Semite. It covers other people besides the Jews including the Palestinians.Almost the entire world now recognizes Zionism as a form of racism. It has only been United States vetos that has prevented this from becomming officially recognized.
