The Most Ridiculous Item of the Day

Time now for "The Most Ridiculous Item of the Day."

Animal rights people in Los Angeles are urging the city council there to pass a law that would strike the word "owner" from local pet ordinances. The new word replacing "owner" would be guardian. How PC, how ridiculous.

Taken from the Foxnews website. This is from The O'Reilly Factor's most ridiculous item of the day.

Well, consider this: dogs have masters and cats have staff.

It's not what you know that gets you in trouble, it's what you know that just ain't so!

Hairy is sure right about cats! Cats were worshipped as gods by the Egyptians 5,000 years ago, and they have never forgotten. Mine cost enough for a new Ruger pistol, and I definatly am not her boss or owner.

And speaking of cats ... I heard that you can teach a cat anything he wants to do, if you catch him when he wants to do it!

Mine worship me. I am the master. As of now they are all three chained to trees and dog houses for attacking the neighbor's newest abandoned dog someone dumped out here. I guess it's guardian no longer felt compelled to furnish room and board. Maybe my neighbors can find this guardian and sue him for doggie support.

WEll, that's my laugh for the day. The only reason I don't laugh harder is that some owners are so abusive to their pets that they don't deserve to keep them. In that case, maybe the word "guardian" serves as a reminder to the cruel that if you don't treat the innocents right, they can go to a better home, no matter how much you paid for the privilege of ownership. I own a dog, and I'm fairly certain that more dogs get into heaven than people, some days of the week. There's a new show on Animal Planet cable channel that is like COPS, only it's about the people in uniform who investigate animal cruelty. They often take pets away from idiots, to their amazement, usually.

There are adults who treat kids like possessions too, and they did a lot more than pay money for them, they "had" them, or adopted them. Yet they can still lose 'em if they abuse 'em. Poetry intended.

I'm not a bambi-ist, but I just wanted to shine a little light on the other side of this coin. It's easy to laugh, but...

Some people "own" animals and some are their "gardians".
If your dog is a member of the family, you might say you are the gardian,(how do you own a family member?). If you just "have" a dog, stress the point of paying for it- then you might say you "own" it.
    But does it really matter??

Now why did this mutate from slamming the maroons in the animal rights fringe groups to yet another cats v. dogs session? Personally, I hate cats, but I recognize there are those who don't share that view (resisting the impulse to editorialize).

I think the PETA types ought to have Guardians, at the very least. Obviously they are not mentally competent.

I am constantly amazed at the things Californians can come up with.Is there something in the water over there? Can anyone honestly tell me why this particular part of the country is home to people with such strange ideas? I never caught on to this until I noticed similar post on this board and now each evening I watch the news and it brings me to a boil, our federal tax dollars actually pay salaries to these elected officials.

    Steve45 -

Got no axe to grind with you, but ........

Have you read Black Roses' thread about the guy charged with grilling the live kitten on his barbeque grill? Maybe it's just that some jokes hit too close to home, coming right on the heels of that thread.

People are free to eat any animal they want, as far as I'm concerned, but cruelty of that nature is a bit much, wouldn't you say?

The problem with Kalifornia is the fanatical Republicans. They continue to nominate people that are off the map to the right.
They are so consumed with the political purity of their nominees that they refuse to select people that will have any chance of being elected.
The current governors race is a classic example. The only way Grey Davis could be re-elected would be if the Republicans were to choose a man that had absolutely no chance of being elected & that is exactly what they did. The problem is not the people of Kalifornia it is the choices they are given by the Republicans who are their own worst enemies.
