......that's what Fed Ex charged to ship a handgun from Salt Lake City, Utah to Charlestown, Indiana.

One of my sons is in SLC going to school. He needed to sell a FNH handgun so I bought it from him and sent him an extra $50 for shipping (he's my kid you know). Even though he is still an Indiana resident I had him ship it to a local FFL so there wouldn't be any possible issues.

Then Fed EX charged him $103 to ship!!!! Had I known that I would have had him hold it until he visited home or he could have looked for an FFL to ship it through the USPS.

Ridicules rules make for ridicules rates!

That's when an FFL is your friend.

In Indiana (and probably Utah as well) it shouldn't be an issue to find one that does a transfer for 15, 20 bucks. Add 12.95 priority flat rate shipping and you're still far,far ahead of where you would be as a citizen with no FFL using overnight on a common carrier.

Had he told me what they were charging that is what I would have told him to do. But he only told me what shipping was because I asked. This of course was after he had already shipped it. Like I told him "live and learn".

My brother in law mailed a brand new S&W M&P 40 from Arizona back to NJ via USPS. for under 15 dollars. How you say??? He took it apart and mailed it in separate pieces in flat rate box and envelopes. I was quite impressed. I got it, put it back together, and it was waiting for him when he got home.Oakie
