I don't know if it's your issue, but keep your fingers crossed it isn't a torn ligament/tendon - even a partial tear. That takes longer to heal than a broken bone.

If it is and you don't deal with it properly you run the risk of tearing up other things in there trying to accommodate. BTDT and ended up regretting it.

    I'd suggest seeing a doc.

I did something similar a couple years ago. Get a wrist/thumb brace at Walgreen's for under $10. Gives support and less discomfort, especially when using the hand. I wore it for a couple weeks before it began to resolve itself. Still, it took weeks not days. Of course there are different degrees of injury that may require more attention. Good luck.

    I feel your pain!!

I've had 4 torn tendons from a fall I took 4 years ago. My Achilles tendon on my right leg had to be repaired twice and a should tendon in my right shoulder had to be repaired by surgery also. Now I have one torn in my left shoulder that was evidently weakened in that fall.

I was just drying off with a towel after a shower when the left one let go. It sounded like a 22 short going off. It was loud enough that my wife called out from another room asking "what was that"?

This last one happened last April and I figured it would eventually quit hurting but it's not and I don't want to go though another operation but I may end up having to eventually. I've not had a full nights sleep in the past 4 years from the pain from these tendons. When I manage to go to sleep it's never over 2 hours that I am awakened by pain from one of these tendons.

    Good luck to you.

Hmm Im getting the idea You are all talking from personal painful experiences.I forgot about it until I made a hot drink and the weight and twisting action must have triggered it.Nearly tipped boiling water over My feet[:0].Time to see the doctor.Would you believe brushing My teeth brings it on.

Put a cock-up wrist splint on it, ice it a couple of times a day and, unless you have a medical reason not to, take some Ibuprofen regularly, 600 mg 3 to 4 times a day at least 6 hours between doses.

If it doesn't get better with that you need a doctor.

Go see the doctor and see if he will give you a cortisone shot to give you some relief. Do not rely on the shot to heal it, just to deal with the pain. See what he says. Were not doctors. Oakie
