Finally got to the point that readers are a necessity. I've found out that they are never where I thought they were, drinking coffee with them on steams them all up, and if you don't close your eyes when you remove them the earpiece is really rough on the old eye balls. Can't wait to se what happens in the next 10 years[:(]

Wait until you need them full time, then exit an air conditioned car on a hot day [B)]

You'll need to buy you about 5 or 6 pairs. One to put near where you sit and read, one pair in each of your vehicles, one pair on your work bench etc. That's what I have done over the years it keeps me from hunting the house over looking for them.

Finally gave up and bought bifocals a few weeks ago. It has been a bit of a struggle to get used to them, but I do not have to take off and on my glasses 50 times a day anymore.

Bought 4 pairs of glasses. Two normal bifocals, 2 pair bifocal safety glasses, and 1 single prescription sun glasses. Doc told me that I had extremely early stage cataracts forming. Apparently spending a lot of time outdoors without sunglasses is not the smartest thing to do.

Same here. I never needed glasses my entire life then I hit 52 and BAM! I cannot see to read and my arms aint long enough.

I went to Sam's club and I bought a case(12) sets of 1.5x glasses. Then I put them wherever I do anything to include a set in the visor of all my vehicles.

I refuse to hang them around my neck..............so far[:D]

I even use them while looking at my 24 inch screen. I need them for anything I have to read. I have about 10 pair of them scattered through out the house because I usually loose 3-4 pair at a time.

My eyes did a 180. I used to wear glasses to see things in the distance and I could read just fine. In the past 3 years they've reversed. I can see fine at a distance but now I can't see crap up close. I liked it better before I believe.

I have discovered that most of the time I lose my glasses, I find them on top of my head. Tom

That happened to me after I got the cataracts removed. The doctor forgot to tell me I would need glasses after the procedure. When I went in for the follow-up exam I told him I thought I was going to need reading glasses. He said "I know you are". He told me he could give me a prescription for reading glasses that would cost me two or three hundred dollars or I could go to Walgreens or Walmart and get a pair off the rack for two or three dollars. I told him I liked two or three dollars better.

A year or so later I wound up needing bifocals. I made the mistake of getting the no line. Now I have the traditional bifocals. It's a world of difference. I'm even starting to get used to wearing them, except when I want to rub or scratch an eyelid I forget to take them off.

After losing many pairs after falling asleep on long haul flights, that and having lenses scratched by the snaps on my shirt pockets, this is what I went to 6 or 7 years ago.

Always there when I need them now, and have bought 4 pair in 6 or 7 years. Two of which I used parts to make one, so I currently have three pair. One on right now, spare in gear bag and rebuilt pair in drawer at home. IMHO, they are more than worth the money spent. Your mileage may vary.

    +1
I also have a couple pairs in my fishing tackle boxes, shooting bag, hunting vest, and my pack I carry when hunting!

    I don't think its you.
I think they are just making things smaller than they used to.

And that makes it harder to see/read.

I know belts are certainly smaller than they were 20 years ago. By several inches.

I just started wearing reading glasses. Eye doctor said that is all I need right now. I cannot read anything close unless I have them on. I bought a bunch of them at the local pharmacy and keep a pair in every vehicle and one next to the computer and night stand. Yeah, they are a pain in the butt, but at least I can read now. We went to the dinner the other night and I had to have Donna, read me the menu. Damn, just damn. It sucks getting old. I have the 2.0 reading glasses. I started out with 1.25 and in no time jumped up to the 2.0. Oakie

My father lost his left eye in a lab explosion at NASA in 1962. His one good eye is getting weaker and weaker, from muscle tissue loss. He is now 72 and was told that he is NOT a candidate for an eye transplant. He will be blind in a few years. He wears tri-focals now and still cannot see to well. I worry every time he gets behind the wheel. He keeps hitting things on the side of the road, over compensating for the loss of depth perception. Wanna lose 10 years off of your life????, Take a ride with him some time[:0][:0][:0][:0][B)][xx(]
