violent thunderstorm

One summer evening during a violent thunderstorm a mother was tucking her small boy into bed. She was about to turn off the light when he asked with a tremor in his voice, "Mommy, will you sleep with me tonight?"
The mother smiled. "I can't dear," she said. 'I have to sleep in Daddy's room."
The little boy replied with a shaking voice, "The big sissy."

    Wife and daughter have been gone for a few days with Grandma.
    Son has decided to sleep in my bed.

    I truly envy you folks with young'uns.
    Was home on leave once and had gone up to my step sister's to help her with some work needed done.
    Woke early one morning to find my four year old nephew standing there by the sofa looking at me. Soon's he saw my eyes open he crawled up under the blanket up tight against my chest and pulled my arm over him. After a few moments he turned his head. Daddy? It near tore my heart out tellin' Li'l Man no.

    Reading that almost made me cry.
    Brings back long ago memories.
    Years ago I dated a single mother. Her daughter was only 2 and for most of her life
    she never saw the same man in her mothers life for more then a week.
    After about a month she started calling me daddy. Longest any male had been in her young life
    other then her grandfather.
    It only lasted a few months because her mommy was a tramp.
    I've always wondered what happen to her. She would be 32 now.
