I am surrounded by woods on all 4 sides of me. I can not see any neighbor from where i am because of woods. My closest neighbor is 1/4 mile from me.

Now they are logging the woods around my house. I just saw them cut a tree and lay it down on a cool machine. I tried to buy as much of the woods as i could but he wanted 15000 for 1 acre.

I could not pay that for woods now i wish i did. I have deer walking all around my house. i mean within 3 feet of the porch. My wife wants me to hunt about 1 hour away because these are her deer. I dont hunt anymore but i could just hunt off my deck if i wanted too.

unless they bulldoze it clear for a housing development, within 5 years you will have 3 times the # of deer in the area because of all the new growth sprouting up....wifey will be happy then

Contrary to what the tree huggers think, the growth which springs up after logging is perfect browse for deer, excellent cover for birds and small mammals. Mature forrest doesn't hold a fraction of the wildlife.

It could be worse. There is a gated neighborhood near me all million dollar plus homes. One on the end in a cul de sac 12000 square feet 9 bedrooms had a nice 5 acre buffer lot between him and the main road. That lot has been for sale since well before we moved up there. About 2 months ago I guess it sold and they started clear cutting and leveling the lot. As soon as they did that the view from the guys pool deck was right out to the main road. [:0] Then they started putting up an old folks home. The loading dock and dumpsters will be right by the guys back yard.

We bought up each piece of land that touched ours, as it went up for sale, in PA. My ground surrounded one guys two acre plot. He had a big PINK mobile home on it. Pink because he let his nine year old daughter pick out the color of their hunting camp. What an eye sore, but great neighbors.I was the first person he called when it went up for sale and I bought it that day. He was extremely generous and sold it to me for what he paid for it twenty five years earlier. I got the two acres for 1,800 and it came with two nice size sheds. Chris and I cut up the trailer and hauled it away.

Dave, I don't hunt my property and I don't let anyone else hunt it too. It is a sanctuary for the deer, turkeys and bear. I love to see them when we get up in the morning at our feeders. I have 53,000 acres of game lands to hunt that attach to my land. The 71 acres that we own is strictly off limits to hunting and I like it that way. Chris only hunted it one year and I even had reservations about that. He didn't kill a deer but saw a lot. The animals need some place to feel safe and secure in my opinion, and that is my land.
