More winter weather. Won't be able to leave the house until Saturday or Sunday when temps warm up and thaw the ice. Where's all that global warming they keep promising us?

As I was typing this the city truck came down the street spreading salt and sand. But I have that long, steep driveway and it's too dangerous to try to go down it when it's icy. I tried the first year we lived in this house and wound up in the neighbor's yard where I had to leave my truck for 3 days.

Good thing is the 45 ACP bullets I ordered arrived ahead of the storm this afternoon so I can load up all the 45 brass I have waiting for me.

Just rolled down I-35 through OK City and out I-40, about 50 miles of ice! Still trying to get my fingernails out of the steering wheel and seat cushion unlodged from my rear [:o)]

Don't you just love it when your moving along on snow-pack and feel that your in control when all of a sudden things get quiet, dead quiet.. No road noise at all. It's like your trucks engine is almost holding it's breath.
It feels like your rig actually picked up speed and your steering feels so touchy that you know your just along for the ride and there's not a damn thing you can do about it.
You don't dare touch the brakes or even take you foot off the go pedal because you know your gliding on ice.

You know a side gust of wind right now and your toast. You whisper a silent prayer it doesn't happen and think about your family at home depending on you....

All that gentlemen is just another day at the office for an American Trucker.

I have to agree and I do hate ice , but for us , unless they close the roads we keep going , some times it really sucks , that's one of the problems with doing a relay

This is my driveway. About a 10' drop from the top to the bottom. Very steep. The snow is about 3" deep with at least 1" of ice underneath it.

Here in New York, we would shovel, plow or blow the snow off, salt the heck out of it and get back to work.

Problem is Little Rock is not a city that gets a lot of snow so it's not prepared to deal with it. We get 1 or 2 dustings a year and every 2-3 years we get dumped on like this. I lived in Utah for 4 years and we didn't see the ground from Thanksgiving until Easter. But the city was level and we could drive on the snow. Little Rock is very hilly on this side of town and when the streets are slick it's very dangerous.
