Question for Buyers, Sellers and FFL's

We are researching a new feature that would let FFLs that are in our network store a copy of their FFL (that we would probably watermark with a big COPY and GunBroker.com) The idea is that at checkout when the buyer selects their ship to FFL that the checkout system can automatically send the copy to the seller (along with the license number which is already a feature as well as a link to the FFL EZCheck system) I'd like to hear from Buyers, Sellers and FFLs what they think about it before we get to building it.
Potentially, sellers that are FFLs could elect to have their copy sent to the Buyers FFL for cases where the receiving FFL requires a shipper to be an FFL. (This is not a requirement of the law in any manner, however we recognize that there are some FFLs that operate in that manner and we are seeking ways to facilitate the entire process within the framework required by the law.)
Thanks for your input!

I keep a PDF of my guy's FFL on file in my phone and just email it when I win something.
If the FFLs in your network sign on to receiving shipments without prior buyer communication as part of being in this network, you've got a winner for the first time buyer or infrequent buyer.
I'm thinking a 'where would you like to pick up your firearm?' pull down menu from FFLs that are on the network.
I get at least one guy a week that thinks that just because his FFL is listed in the Gun Broker system that everything is covered. It would make things more streamlined to be able to send over the FFL right through the system.
It would be the last major step to this site being an "all inclusive" firearms purchasing and selling website!
I think it is a major step too.....this would be as innovative as the checkout and the shipping....for sure!
Great for first time buyers who don't have a relationship with a local FFL.

In the iPhone and Android apps, it actually shows you a map of the FFLs in the networks that are closest to your current location. I would sort that list to show the ones with the stored license at the top. We of course will be doing some extra work with those FFLs.
One of the other things were are working on is to allow both sellers and buyers to post feedback about the transfer FFL as well as the other parties in the transaction. Again, we want to make the entire process as easy and legal as possible for everyone involved.
AND (I know I'm being pushy).....it would be nice if the auction number were somehow on the checkout instead of an item number.....or even included with an item number. It never fails, someone asking about a status will send over an item number instead of an auction number, which is a lot less user friendly.

Suggestion....just a little one....when using the shipping, it would be nice if the tracking number were automatically sent to the buyer and somehow a link there on the auction or even a link to the auction on the shipping page.

We have had problems in the past with buyers given the tracking # trying to redirect the shipment to them instead of the FFL. As a consumer and frequent buyer on Amazon I am used to having total vision into the process. They don't sell guns. If I could make it work so that the buyer could see "where" the shipment was without enough info to dupe the mensa candidates that for for FedEx and UPS into delivering it to the wrong place we would look into it.
Its a transaction governed by federal law. So no one is going to jack around anyone on either end of the transfer.
I'll pick based on location and fees charged.
So I'd be less interested in feedback, and far more interested in knowing it was a GB "approved" FFL.
You manage the list, give them extra resources, they give you more business. Dictate the fee to develop standardization and scale. They benefit from increased volume and cross sell opportunities.
"You need some Wilson mags to go with that 1911 that's coming in next week? How about I set you up with 100 rds of 180 SWC so you can get right to the range...? Is this your first .45? need a brass bore brush for that pistola??"
You've got a money maker idea there...
Devil's in the details though.

Could an option to add insurance to shipping in the checkout system be a future addition?
Some sellers only offer it if you request it.
I would be in.
Thanks !!!!
Too old to live...too young to die...
My local FFL thought GB did that when I selected find a local FFL.
A dealer in another state I bought a gun from called me and asked me why he had not received my transfer agents FFL.
Had to contact local dealer and have email FFL to dealer.
IMHO, it is a great idea. Communication would be important between seller, dealer, and buyer. All 3 parties would have to be informed and approve before sale concluded.
Sometimes people don't always check email.
I am lucky because my FFL lets me keep a file copy so I don't have to bug him. I just email him and let him know whats coming.
Hopefully more sellers will join the GB check out process so I can pay em that way.

It's not federal law, but assist those of us that are required by our state laws to prove where the firearm came from when the seller refuses to provide a copy of their state issued ID.
btw since I'm not a ffl. can I get my ffl.'s info in the system of which you speak? if so I'm in.
I appreciate the effort that GB puts into improving their process on a continual basis. Thanks!
It sounds like a good idea to me but from my experiences I know many FFLs are paranoid about allowing copies of the license out of their hands. Maybe dealers in the GB network don't feel that way?
We tend to weed out the FFLs that operate in that manner. We are helping them make money, in exchange for that they need to not cause our customers extra hassle.
I like the idea. As someone said, this sounds a lot like what PSA has and that system is really slick.

Last time I tried to buy something from PSA I had a difficult time getting it to take my guys FFL. Brownells, had a better item for the same price so I went with them.

The item number is the auction number..... I'm confused here....
There is an order number and an item number....
I think it would also speed things up, require less time and effort for the FFL.

Anything that makes it easier to complete the deal, makes for a happy buyer, which may increase the chances for repeat use of G/B auction side buying.
