shoots thru a new pistol before packaging in box? I bought
a new 1911 yesterday and cleaned it this morning, it was kind
of dirty for a brand new gun. Any Idea?

I know a guy that worked test firing for Ruger once. IIRC they fired 50 rounds through each and every firearm.

I don't know about the U.S. makers, because the U.S. has no proof laws. European countries vary, requiring different numbers of proof shots followed by standard loads.

Wilson shoots 3 from a ransom rest, and you get the tet target to prove its accuracy

Sounds a bit high. But, maybe so. I'll bet they don't do that any more though. I'll bet they are hoarding their ammo just like most of us. [:D] They are probably down to single digits on round count. One cylinder or one magazine, at most. [:)]

I own 4 berettas 3 of them I bought new and either Beretta did not shoot the guns, or clean them after shooting.
My new Remingtong R1 SS looked like they shot 20 or 30 rounds.
By the way I'm very happy with the gun, shot 100 rounds today, a little low at first but after a few rounds I was grouping 6" to 7" at 25 yds. thanks for the feed back.

i watched a program on ruger. EVERY single gun is test fired before it leaves. they showed them testing 9mm pistols. they were putting 3 rds in each mag. this might have changed, but i am sure they dont fire 50rds through each gun. not only would that take forever to just load mags for each gun, it would be exspensive.

I've tried that for "ever", and spending $$ on trigger jobs was a waste. At least I'm honest[:)], and can hit a watermelon from even further.[;)]

Who got you for a trigger job on a Beretta ?, only thing you can do is change a spring on their trigger

I find that using a smaller target at greater distances, I became more accurate. From my bows to my firearms.Just food for thought. Oakie
