Except about P-mags......

About a year ago I took the neighbor kid, James, with me and we went over to another neighbor's, and shot my AR, and M1A. This boy is about 13, and pretty smart, too smart sometimes. They have plenty of guns at home, just nothing like the AR, or M1A. He spends hours on the computer reading about this stuff, and can spout out specs for all this stuff like nobody's business.

I had bought a bunch of metal mags for the AR from PSA, and some more from Cabelas. I took one mag from each batch to make sure they function. I should point out here that all I use are metal military surplus/contract mags in my AR.

Well, we did our shooting and everything went well. As we were pulling out on our way home, James was looking at one of the new mags we had tried. Pretty soon he says:"When you gonna get a P-mag?" I said "never". His eyes got wide, and with this shocked look on his face, he asked: "You're not?". Then the started spouting all the sales pitch about P-mags. "You can drop them, you can drive over them, yada, yada, yada." I said "nope" He was just about beside himself.

OK....GO![:D]

I have a few that I was gifted, but for the most part run military contract metal magazines. I am glad the company had the cahones to move out of Colorado. I may dedicate the pmags to the new prairie dog slayer.

I personally prefer Thermold or Troy Industries, for the $$.

The only AR mags I've ever had an issue with, flexing at the side walls, and having a loading FU, have been P mags.

    Overrated in my opinion.

I have never tried a P-Mag. All mine are plain old aluminum ones, with the exception of a few cheap Pro-Mags. Them are dedicated to range use only.

I have some Thermolds as well. There were some problems with the early ones but all of the ones I have have functioned flawlessly. I've got a few P-Mags but not that many and haven't had a problem with those as well. They must be pretty good if the Marine Corps are gonna be using them exclusively.

The big issue is whether you load them with 9mm or .45... [:o)]

    Hey, that's funny right there.

There is however, a group working on a 9mm wildcat utilizing 5.56 cases. That means cases, mags, etc. would be shared and just a simple barrel change needed. Much like the .300 Blackout or .277 Wolverine.

Yup. Only the plastic in GLOKES is "perfection" apparently.

I heard that Tupper ware is coming out with a line of AR magazines.
    Or was it Rubbermaid?

I have nothing but Colt mags. except for 1 P Mag, I haven't used yet. Bought my son a few for his new Ruger so I decided to try one myself.
He blasted some targets with his Christmas day, no problems at all. [8D]

I have no problem with most plastic products, just cheap ugly handguns that feel awkward like your aiming with a shoe box, and newer Beretta plastic triggers safety levers and spring guides.

There are some things that just should no be made out of plastic.

I have a few P-mag's and so far I haven't had any problems they work ok, and this is why I think Joe is wrong, they wouldn't work good if made from recycled glocks specially discarded exploded ones.[;)]

I ran 6 Gen 2 Pmags for 5+ years 2-3 times a week and they were flawless.

I sold them at a gun show and started using 6 Gen3 Pmags for training and they are flawless.

Don't like them? Don't use them.
So far there is no law making you use any particular magazine although the United Sates Marine Corps seem to have decided on Pmags for combat so either they are GTG or you think Marines don't know anything about magazines.

I still have a few of those great aluminum 20 rounders with anti-tilt followers, those were so good but even for sighting in I use 20 round PMags and 10 round lancer L5AWM for my big long range AR
(My SD 30 rounders are L5 and PMag windowed)

It is so great we have many choices and if you use something different than me good for you.

We just won an election that allows us to keep and use all the mags we want.

I don't like my AR enough to care if I stick a tampon dispenser in it, as long as it hold my round and works. The first thing to leave this house when my son moves, is the AR 15. I told him last week, take that thing with you, it's yours. He is all smiles. I bought it because everyone said they were fun. Okay, That lasted one trip to the range. I will stick with my lever guns and bolt action rifles. The M1 Garand, now that is fun. The Jap 7.7, that is fun. The AR, not so much for me.
