Ice fishing trip Saturday....

....did not go so well.
Up at 0430 and off to the lake with inlaws and outlaws.
By 0600 the first trip was made out onto the ice with equipment.
By 0630 we were pulling my BiL and his wheeler out of the lake.
He broke through the thin ice by the lake inlet. 4-6 inches everywhere else and he goes over the thin (and much darker) ice. It was only 1/2-1 inch thick there.
State cops, Fire/Rescue and the DEC were all present. A big thank you to the DEC and Fire/Rescue (all volunteers). You were great! The cops were just asshats standing around cussing and being insulting towards my (admittedly braindead) BiL. I mentioned to them that there behavior was rude and unprofessional. They said nothing, but stopped being obnoxious.
So....BiL was in and out of the ER in less that three hours....minor hypothermia. The wheeler was recovered, drained, dried and re-fired by dinner time.
The day was exciting, but not in the way we hoped it would be.
Anyone else have an exciting weekend?

Glad everything turned out ok. Too bad the cops were asshats, but that is why a fella needs to video record every contact nowdays. Record and turn in to supervisor, and local tv station.
Nothing that exciting.
I drove to our Rural King to buy a new chainsaw.
I had an $82 rebate to use towards the price.
Got there and what I thought was the rebate was directions to my nieces house. [:(]
Went and got the new saw, with the rebate, on Sat.
Black Ice Matters
Glad you're OK. Apparently the fish are OK too.
Black Ice Matters
That is the same thing I told him! [:D]
No ticket from the DEC. No oil slick in the water.
All is well!
About the only excitement was the dog getting up at 1:30 this morning to wander about the yard for 20 mins digging at the snow. It was fun listening to the coyotes at that hour though. Must have been a pack of 20 or more.
And fiery auto crashes
Some will die in hot pursuit
While sifting through my ashes
Some will fall in love with life
And drink it from a fountain
That is pouring like an avalanche
Coming down the mountain
Why is it always the BIL? [;)][:D]
They are normally 'expendable'.[:D]Dave
