I was randomly selected to fill out a more detailed census survey yesterday. Now they are asking personal questions that I prefer not to answer. Things like how much land I own, do I own a stove, cell phone, how I heat my home, how much money I make, when I served in the armed forces, how many vehicles I own, my education, if I have medical insurance, how much my mortgage payment is, and many more personal questions. It also came along with a letter stating I MUST fill out all of this by law. The only thing is, They didn't show any link where I can read the law. I may have to claim this form must have got lost in the mail.

Fill in the answer, "I am not sure".
You have complied with the law by supplying an answer, it is not your problem they don't like it.
Constitutional compliance has been achieved at the el-tee household, until the next one in 2020.
Is it some "official" survey from the Federal or State governments that is required or just another chit for chit "survey" from Tinbucktoo? [?] [:(] [?]
Census Survey - from whom and for what?????

It looks official from the U.S. Dept. of Commerce Economics and Statistics Administration U.S. Census Bureau.

round file it
when they show up at the door with guns shoot them in the face
And fiery auto crashes
Some will die in hot pursuit
While sifting through my ashes
Some will fall in love with life
And drink it from a fountain
That is pouring like an avalanche
Coming down the mountain
I got about three of those and follow up calls to boot. I told them I was dead..
not enough
do I own a stove
did you mean coal wood gas or electric
cell phone
no phone in my cell
how I heat my home
with energy
how much money I make
not enough
when I served in the armed forces
i have no arms
how many vehicles I own
i have a salvage yard
my education
6 yrs.aademic, 6 yrs vo tec = 12
if I have medical insurance
ask obama
how much my mortgage payment is
what's a mortgage?
this would be my answers
Your government likes to know what their cattle taste like before they have you slaughtered.
Any and all information can and WILL BE used against you.
Personally I consider this the mail equivalent of some stranger on the phone calling me to tell me I missed jury duty, and unless I give them all sorts of information they should already have, they will put a warrant out for my arrest.
Do not leave the spaces blank!

Exactly.
Just fill in something in each blank. Doesn't matter what it is. You have filled it out and that's that.

I read it twice. There is no place to sign it stating that you answered honestly.

I do not believe anyone is under any legal obligation to complete and submit any such "survey".
I can not picture myself complying with that survey. See no benefit to oneself for doing so. [:0] [V] [:(] [:(!] [;)]
Google American Community Survey and you will see a lot of conversation about this.
It goes something like this.
1. They will send the form and request by mail a couple of times.
If you do not respond:
2. The will call you for about a month.
If you tell them you will not participate:
3. They will start showing up at your home.
I told them on the phone mulitple times that I refuse to give them that information. After a month of that, they came to the house.
It was a rainy cold day and I made the guy stand out under my porch entry while I told him that I was not going to participate. He said that an answer of "decline to answer" was legitimate to each question. I told him to put that answer down for each question.
He proceded to go through each question trying to get me to participate. I told him that he had my answer to each question. He proceded to file through the questions on his laptop entering "decline to answer" by himself. He occasionally asked if I would mind answering a question to which I replied "no".
Once he finished with me, I asked if it was necessary to go through all this for my wife. He said yes. I said "the answers were the same as mine, Have a nice day".
He was courteous, as was I, throughout and said that would be the end of it.
The long and short of it is that they will not penilize you for not participating but may bug you for a while.
This sounds like the same long form I got shortly after the regular census last year.

Thank you for all the above information. I will do as you did.
Thank God for you people that don't answer. I may have a job knocking on doors.
You'll go away eventually
If I ever get another one, I'm going to save it.
