Well it's summer and probably everyone is doing some traveling. I thought, lets post are favorite gun shop, why you like it and where it is. This way if anybody is in the area of a good gun shop they can visit it. I love stopping at gun shops when I'm traveling. My favorite shop is Glenn's Gun shop in Annville, PA. Very personal shop, run by one guy at his house. Carries mainly used guns with a lot of good deals. Always an interesting conversation going on with the regulars that come in.

Kesselring Gun Shop in Alger, Washington. Ron Kesselring has been in the business for a million years. There's no more knowledgeable man in the gun business and no more honest man on the face of the earth.

Ed Carrars' "Gun-a-torium" on N. Argonne Ave. in Spokane WA, Ed passed away last November but, for the short time I knew him, he was an endless source of knowledge and a pretty nice guy when you got to know him, some folks didn't bother and saw him as an old timer set in his ways. Ed's shop is now operated by his son and daughter, and there is a question of how much longer it will be around. Ed opened his shop in the 30's, taking over the firearms and sporting business from his dad who was more in the in merchantile business. Since then his shop has never moved and was the first of it's kind in the area, some of the pieces in his shop have been there since opening and are not for sale, but are on display, an example of this is the case full of 30+ Colt revolvers, ranging from late 1800's to mid-1950's, from .32's to .45LC's, sitting next to a case full of Smith and Wessons of the same period. Colt Woodsmans and pre-Woodsmans? They have about 20 in another case. Impressive. The rest of the store is a "candyland" for any shooter- Black powder pistols to the most modern current production rifles are all on the shelves, and about 50,000 round of ammo to boot. I really like this place, regulars know where the coffee pot is, and rinse their cups out when done- the floor creaks and air smells of powder solvent, dust, sulfer and old guns. It's the kinda place your wife expects to not see you for a few hours when you say you "might" drop by there.

I do not have a favorite at the present time. They are kinda like the shooting ranges around here, they have closed down one at a time. I do keep in touch and still talk to a couple of the guys that had them though.

If I knew then, what I know now.

10-32 Supply in Beaumont Texas. The absolute best.

I used to like Garry's Guns in Vidor Texas 2nd, until I asked about a scope and the guy behind the counter gave me some sales B.S. about one shot one kill stuff. I just gave him a "Your an idiot" look, paid for my stuff and left.

If I'm wrong please correct me, I won't be offended.

All my favorites have closed, mostly from death, retirement or bureaucratic hassles from the scumbag Klintoonian regime . . . . Those left are more sterile emporiums without all the real neat 'junk' littering the back corners where one could spend some quality time prospecting for gold. And the proprieters seem to lack the personality of the previous generation.

On Target Supply in Birdsboro, PA. Great people, great guns, and great prices. Also, Gun Traders in Reading, PA, next to the Army Navy Store, has vast selection of used guns at real fair prices and very nice guys to deal with.

Pack slow, fall stable, pull high, hit dead center.

I could mention two in the greater Albany, NY, area.

Taylor & Vadney Sporting Goods in Rotterdam (near Schenectady) is an old-fashioned sporting goods store with a large gun section. They were willing to act as the receiver when I bought a gun from GunBroker. They would have gotten it for me (at about the same price) if they could have, but since they couldn't, they were willing to receive it for a reasonable fee.

My favorite is Neudecker's Guns in North Troy, NY. It is a very small shop, but they've had good recommendations for me in the used gun market. I bought my favorite two guns from them, both used but in good to excellent condition and at fair prices.

Of course, every store has to make a profit on what they sell. If they didn't, they wouldn't be there and for us it would be Wal-Mart or gun shows only.

I am A little biased but my newly (10 months) opened shop is my favorite. Osgood's Guns & Ammo. Between Ithaca and Cortland in Upstate New York. I jumped through every hoop they put in front of me. It was discouraging at time but so far I don't regret it. I don't know everything about every gun made and tell the customers that when they ask about a particular gun. I don't BS them. I try to be polite and courteous at all times. So far its working. Been told opening a gun shop in NY was a mistake. Maybe but I have made others in my life and will probably make more before I die.

My favorite Is Daves Gun Shop in Eldred Pa. Small personal gunshop, will order you anything 10% over his cost. Small place but man he has alot of stuff crammed in there! New and used firearms in stock, Ammo, reloading supplies etc. Dave is a hell of a guy, a typical Pennsylvania Redneck who loves to talk hunting and guns. A little on the crazy side, ask him to see his cannons, plan on bullshitting for awhile. If your in the area stop and give Dave a visit.

The coffee is always on and there's always some one around with some thing new. Got 450 to 500 guns in stock. I'd like to meet some of you guys. (I think)

Of all the gun shops I've seen I like Gary's Gun Shop in Sioux Falls, SD the best. Guns, Guns, and more Guns plus an indoor range with the option to rent.

I think this topic has been around before but, in Springfield, Mo, Gunslinger, on Sunshine St. Go out to Lawrence Co. and see Hackworth's Guns on Hwy 96 near Halltown, or Cooper's Gun's, in Miller. Isn't it nice to have 3 to pick from?!

For handguns, You can't beat Southeastern Guns in Center Point AL. I think they have just about everything that is made is stock. They have ended up with entirely too much of my money.

I'll be printing this thread and taking it with on future road trips. So many, but here are a few of my favorites....

"Collectors Firearms, Simpson Limited" ..Galesburg, Illinois....finest collection of Lugers I've ever seen. Last time I was there they had over 500. www.simpsonltd.com

"New Albany Shooting Range"...Columbus, Ohio....really nice selection of handguns, especially the Wilson Combat line. www.nasr.com

"Ahlmans" in Morristown, Minnesota....nice selection www.ahlmans.com

"The Second Amendment" ...Overland Park, Ks.....nice people, some really rare collectible stuff

"Scheels" in Iowa City, Iowa.....biggest selection of new and collectible firearms I've seen next to a gun show.

Any "Cabela's Gun Library".....Dundee, Michigan...Owatonna, Mn, and Sydney, Neb. have some of the nicest collections.

Johnson's sporting goods in Adrian Mich. Lots of used guns and a wide selection of new ones. Four gunmiths on staff and they do a super trigger job. Only about 1/2 hour west of the Cabela's in Dundee MI.
