Just made a purchase of a very nice Inland.
Non-import..all matching parts.
Had a few over the years but always sold.
Anyone here collect or have one ?
This one is around 90% and will be tucked away.
I know they lack punch and accuracy compaired the the current
stuff but in 1944 these had to be handy.
Thanks,
Twodogs

    Sweet, 2 pups!

You have quite a piece there!

I have 2 myself, a WW2 era Postal Meter and a post WW2 Plainfield commercial model.

I handload for both but really only shoot the Plainfield.

    Tons O' plinking fun indeed!

    DoggieDeux,

I've only owned the moden Universal version of the carbine. I'm looking for one for my collection and i'll try to build it myself into a 100% correct gun..

I read an article in American Rifleman a couple years back about how to put together a complete original carbine. Start with a good receiver and then just start swapping out every single part that is not original.

You need to get a book like Canfields on the M1 carbine that will tell you all the correct codes. When you find a part with the right code at a gunshow, the guy at the table will usually swap you even for the same part with different code.

Might take you a few gunshows to get all the parts but you will end up putting together a gun that is worth much more than sum of its parts.

A friend of ours has a Winchester of WWII mfg, the parts are all original, but it has been polished and reblued, so I'm guessing that it has lost a great deal of the collector value.

Back when Blue sky and Arlington ordinance were selling them I sold a bunch, swaping parts along the way I ended up with Saginaw and a Inland with correct parts[:D] My brother has the Inland, I still have the Saginaw.
