collecting dust in the safe

I was just reading a post where someone mentioned buying a new gun, although they have several they already don't shoot.

Got me thinking, I am picking up 2 ar-15's this afternoon. I already have a bunch of guns in the safe collecting the perverbial dust.

How many of you also have guns that have not been fired in awhile, I know my 1st gun, a Winchester 94 trapper in 32 win special has not bseen fired in 15 years, yet I hang on to it and would never sell it.

I do however, take them all out and wipe them down on occasions. I bet their are a lot of you that have guns stuffed in the back of the closet that are very nice, yet never used.

Go ahead fess up to it.

When I lived in Kalif. I kept all the evil Black guns in the back of the safe. Now I keep all the old brown guns in the back and shoot the black guns all the time.

Which safe are we talking about ...
... the little one or the big one?
(I have some of each in both)
    .
    .
    .
If you really want to do something, you'll find a way ...
... If you don't, you'll find any excuse.
If you really desire something, you'll find a way ?
? otherwise, you'll find an excuse.

I think we have all realized this at one time or another. In my own case many times it is the newer guns that don't get fired nearly as much as some of the "old reliables". But ain't it fun to keep getting them?

You can never have too many guns.

I have worked hard on my collection to get what I wanted. Some havent been fired in awhile but I would never get rid of them. I have thought about it a couple of time but just cant do it. They all have a special place [:D]

I haven't shot my 77/22 in about 11-12 years but wouldn't think to part with it. It was the first gun I owned and coming from my father, it has more sentimental value than anything else in my collection.

this may sound odd to many, but there comes a time when im so sick of looking at or shooting guns, i need to get away and do something else to get my mind off them. yes, it can happen, especially if youre the kind of guy i am, that cleans every gun every time its shot. the dreaded cleaning that awaits me causes me to rethink if i reeeeealy want to shoot it, and most times, it goes back in the safe. so, ALL of my guns have dust on them! and like some said, some of my guns have NEVER been shot. of the hundreds of guns...i always seem to grab the same ones over and over and its the 45, the 22 and the 12ga skeet gun. all others just sit and act as tools for bragging rights to friends! i have literaly opened cases and forgot i owned some. even with them inventoried and prepped for long term deep sleep, i forgot they were around and ive felt like a kid finding his x-mas present early when i stumbled on to them. sorta like this..."who put this pidgeon model 12, 2 bbl factory skeet/trap set in my closet? ohhhh, it must have been santa!" this is dangerous, the wife could selling them and wouldnt know! hmmm......i better rethink this!!![:D]

I think these are the reasons that my wife claims that i do not "need" anymore guns, I don't understand her logic.

When did buying a gun ever have anything to do with "need"?

I am going hunting tomorrow, I think I will break out the T/C hawken and take it for a walk in the woods, just to air it out a little. Beside it kills deer just as well as the inline.
