John Walker Lindh

I haven't seen any comments on John Walker Lindh posted, so I'm just going to ask what everyone thinks of this guy. Especially any active duty military guys (or gals) out there. I just read where he pleaded guilty to aiding the Taliban. If I remember correctly he could get 20 years in the pen. His dear old dad thinks that 20 years is too much for "that boy" as he called him. Personally, I think the little * is lucky. If the same situation had occured in WWII he would probably face a firing squad, or if he had been a U.S. serviceman he would have been court-martialed and hung from the end of a rope.
He may not have fired a shot or set off a bomb, but he is an accessory by virtue of carrying weapons and training with the Taliban.

Any thoughts?

Lawyers for Lindh are asking for a change of venue. The current trial location (Washington D.C.) is too close to the Pentagon. Does anyone have any suggestions?

I do not believe he deserves a trial. He is a member of a foreign military and when he joined said military he forfeited his status as an American citizen, thus relinquishing any protections he may have been entitled to under our contitution. He should be executed by firing squad and barried in an unmarked grave.

When Clinton left office they gave him a 21 gun salute. Its a damn shame they all missed....

I just heard on the News that his Lawyers asked for the charges to be Dismissed because he can't get a fair trial anywhere in the United States.

All Requests were Denied. Trial starts August in Washington, D.C.

Does anyone know if he has ever renounced his citizenship? If he has, since when have we executed enemy soldiers captured during, after or before a battle, who were not hiding their identity? I recall being told that only spies were executed in war.

If he has not renounced it, then he is a traitor and should be tried as such. It seems to me we do not execute the people who "need it the most". That would include anyone who has commited acts against the US in any way. Aldrich Aames(sp) comes to mind along wih Jane Fonda.

Talk about "a man without a country". I don't know where he will go if or when he ever gets released from prison. Hell comes to mind.......

My house would be a good place for the trial. Very secluded I'll need some of you guys as jury members though....

How about off the back of a tall horse? Firmly anchor one end of a very short rope to a tall tree with the other end around his traitorous neck, if the ropecan stretch long enough for him to stand on the ground.....shorten the rope or get a taller horse!
