Would You Draft Cam Newton?

Living here in Panthers country the discussion is who do the Panthers select with their number one overall pick. Did Newton have an incredable college career? Absolutely, no question. Many think that his style of play will not translate to the pros, at least not for a couple of seasons. I'm not even going to start on the character issues. This to me is a lose/lose situation. Draft him and he doesn't pan out or he is in trouble with the law and the Panthers are screwed. Don't draft him and he lives up to his college career and the Panthers will look like the most inept organization in NFL history. To be honest, the character issues would scare me the most. If you had the number one pick in this years draft, who would you pick??

I would take one of the DE and stay away from newton. One year as a college starter and a lot of bad press does not impress me. Or they could try and trade the pick for Kevin Kolb if it wern't for the CBA

Cam, will be another Vince Young. The QB from Arkansas was looking good, but appears that he may be in a possible melt down at the combine. The cheerleaders at Hawaii get my vote, the majority of the rest are just over paid jock wearing nut sacks.

    Good God !!
Why should character issues even be mentioned in the same sentence with pro. ball players ?
He might be a good prospect ,but I doubt he will live up to the hype .
And I went to Auburn !

From what I have read Nick Farely will go before Cam .

I wouldn't go with him number one, but the Cowboys may go with him at number nine. Romo might make it until Newton is pro ready.

    personally I don't believe the pay-for-play BS...
Auburn did not pay him, records were checked...so why would he come here instead of the school that seems to have been in negotiations, supposedly...

that being said, I am not sure that he is what you would call an NFL-grade QB. too unorthodox for them is my bet

If my team needed a QB, I'd go with Newton, provided he was left when it came my turn to pick.
