"I like the story, doubtless antique, that I heard near San Antonio. A child asks a stranger where he comes from, whereupon his father rebukes him gently, 'Never do that son. If a man's from Texas, he'll tell you. If he's not, why embarrass him by asking?'" John Gunther, Author (Inside USA)

How's that joining the U.S. so that 160 years later you are being forced to let the Mexicans take it back working out for you?

Texas celebrating Independence Day is a lot like the Confederacy celebrating Independence Day, only you had a 10 year run vs. 4.
Freedom and a submissive populace cannot co-exist.

They have done sucked most of the black gold out and everything else is bought and paid for now so plenty more serfs is the only game left.[:D]

It is that day for Texas citizens to reflect upon, or anyone who likes history for that matter. Thanks for the post.

Independence for the Texas Republic! I love Texas. Just drove through San Antonio today, and drove very near the Battle of San Jacinto.

Texas Independence day is celebrated all over the state of Texas. Here's an article about this day in Nacogdoches, the oldest town in Texas, where kids ring the bell 179 times. This day is also Sam Houston's birthday! Nacogdoches also claims to be his first Texas home.

The vast majority of all of the men who fought for Texas Independence came from the southern states. A whole bunch of men moved to Texas from Georgia for this very purpose.
