I made a run into town for a few small items that while not necessary were things I wanted . The crowds were for the most part well behaved . How long this will last is anyone?s guess.

Man I want to leave the planet. I would be able too if what I was fed in the 60's was correct but we have had to fix so many idiots on Earth that we are behind. Plus the fact that a large percentage of our own population is usless.
I had some old POS in Iraq ask me how I liked the 51st state.............I almost shot him in the face, but I said you should be so lucky you pile of crap. If it wasn't for chicken chit people like you and this sorry * country we would be curing cancer and living in space.
I should have pistol whipped him but I just walked away.[;)]
Watching the way folks regularly act before a major weather event, there?s NO question that we?re one storm away from witnessing the meltdown of society.

I was thinking the same thing.
It doesn't take a genius to figure out that if you live in certian areas you should be prepared. If you live on the East Coast you are going to have:
1. Tornado's
2. Hurricanes
3. Huge Snow/Ice storms (I Know we don't know how to drive on Ice like everyone else does)
That means you are going to lose power for at least a few hours to a week.
Have some set aside to survive on.
There is not a battery, flashlight or bottle of water in the CVS that is not far from. My wife had to stop there are pick up a prescription. She said it was wiped out.
-Who doesn't keep batteries and a flashlight-
-Who doesn't keep a case or two of bottled water and if not how hard is it to fill a tub or buckets also why would you not have water unless you are have a well like me that requires power to lift the water out of the ground???
-Why is bread so important, I would rather have crackers
-Why don't people get cans of Spam, Vienna Sausages, Tuna, Deviled Ham or chicken instead of cans of beans?
The unsettling part of these events is watching the supposedly "settled/comfortable" segments of our society carry on this way over simple items-batteries, water, a jug of milk, etc.-and just how fast things descend into chaos over such stupidity. If most could see what goes on in densely populated urban areas at the slightest hint of an event, it would scare the crap out of you. With the availability of social media and other means of instant communication, our urban areas, at the slightest hint of an incident, literally resemble images of Mogadishu. From personal observations I can assure you that, our cities especially, are only one major weather or other event from descending into anarchy.
Threw my paper route in this one. Folding and slapping newspapers in the kitchen a little after 3 AM the morning of 27 June 1957 woke up my Mother. She wanted to know why I was not outside in the carport doing it. Told her it was too windy. Loaded the paper bags on my bike, put on my raincoat, and pushed it to my route. About the last house on the route that morning belonged to the Ritters. They were awake and invited me in out of the weather. Eileen, my friend and their daughter was dressed in her housecoat. I believe they told me that school had been cancelled, and everyone needed to seek shelter at their local schools...ours was James Bowie Jr. High. I rode the brakes of my bicycle on the way home as there was no need to peddle. The storm came through Beaumont, as I recall, with 90 mph wind gusting to 110 or better. It was a very bad Cat 3 storm that took about 500 lives and destroyed Cameron, Louisiana.
I would not want to be within 20 miles of the coast when Florence hits. Once again, good luck to all of you folks in its path.
The more I look at this storm it looks like Mathew from 2016.
I found this comment on a site
Our Gov Roy Cooper who is one pathetic individual. Couldn't even handle the Silent Sam statue issue - will be totally incompetent with a major storm like this plus hasn't even cleaned up the Lumberton area after Matthew Hurricane. Useless.
I have to agree he is a useless pathetic individual.

She said that one chitbag posted that he gets a generator before every storm and returns it afterward when he didn't need. People like that should receive a class 3 beatdown.
That is the stores' fault for allowing such items to be returned when purchased just prior to a pending storm POSSIBLY requiring the useage of such an item.
wonder how many try to return bread/milk to the grocery store?
[:D][:D][:D]
Home Depot takes them back even if they are used.
I picked up a 7500 Watt Generac at the local HD after week long power outage for 60 cents on the dollar. It was used for a few hours by someone who bought it during the outage and returned it for full price when they got their power back.
Freedom and a submissive populace cannot co-exist.
Just got back from the Food Lion, I decided I needed more PBR.
They were restocking WATER! They even had some bread. I picked up 2 cases of PBR, Some Hamburger meat they were doing a sale on and some Hamburger buns.
So it looks like Beer and burgers for tonight. My wife is basically a vegetarian so she gets a Portabelo Mushroom burger.
Checked out some of the isles, there was not one Can of:
1. Vienia Sausage
2. Tuna
3. Chef Boyardes spaggatti O's or any of the stuff
4. Spam
5. Potted meat
What was left:
Canned Calf Brains
Canned Sausage? Never had it
Anchovies(I like them)
Canned Corn Beef(Its not too bad)
Canned Corn beef hash
Sardines
The soup isle was demolished.
What was left was:
Split pea soup(I like it) and some minestrone soup.
Lots of cans of Manwich left. I almost got some its been a long time since I had a Sloppy Joe/Manwich.
Gas lines are down but then there are stations without gas or only high test.
I was born and lived in Slidell until we moved in 1968 before Camille destroyed Slidell.
I have lots of cousins that live in LA. I grew up in Beaumont. I also had some distant cousins that lived in Slidell. I never met them, but did correspond with one regarding our genealogy and South Carolina roots.
Went to a family reunion over in Tickfaw State Park back in 2004.
Had another cousin whose semi broke down over in Slidell a few months back.
Wilmington, Carolina Beach, Holden beach etc, Calabash and north myrtle are looking to get devastated. Looks like I won't have a beach rental in October. Predicting 13ft storm surge....that'll put Holden and Carolina beach under water.

Just read that Florence is creating 83 foot waves.
Out at sea but they would break when the bottom is half the height of the wave so an 83 foot wave would break when the ocean bottom is 40'++ deep from the surface which would be very far from shore.
It is the storm surge, the water pushed in front of the storm raising the water level that is most devastating to structures on land.
But the fact the waves are that large is a bad sign for the height of that storm surge.
This is one of those storms that us who live near the coast will admittedly say I don't wish it on anyone but thankfully it is not me (This time!)

Just talked to my daughter in Sumter, SC. She plans to stick it out for now and make a decision in the morning about bugging out. She is in the Air Force there and said the base let everyone go until early next week. She has her house fully stocked with food, water, fuel, batteries, dogs, etc. She says her house is on one of the higher parts of town so she is in no hurry to bug out and have to sleep in the car on the highway. Wish I was there with my generator, rations, tools, supplies, etc, but it is a hell of a long drive from the Reno area. [:D]
