But that would be a non-politically correct conclusion.
"Gun deaths are shaped by race in America. Whites are far more likely to shoot themselves, and African Americans are far more likely to be shot by shoot someone else."
There are examples of groups that focus on the human issue and succeed in stopping violence. One of those is this bunch:

I wish the NRA would get together with that bunch. Solving the violence problem is not about the hardware, it's about what's between the ears.
They never mentioned other means of suicide by whites, just firearms. Same as black homicides, no mention of knives, etc.
You hit the nail on the head. I've been trying to say the same thing forever. They always say gun deaths and never seem to address the problems in a larger scope and timeline.
Why so many gun deaths, because firearms are the right tool for the job. I'm not saying what they do is right, but they are using the right tools in general to accomplish the task.
I'm not good at articulating the thought, but in general if, say you have a total firearms ban, you end up with a blip in the statistics of a few years maybe. Then people start using other means and the overall numbers change little if at all or the criteria set out for the initial argument is no longer valid.
I had a friend commit suicide not long ago. In hind site I can see she was planning it for years, at least two and a half years. She chose a firearm, but did the deed about twenty five yards from the train tracks. The statisticians portray it as an impulsive act and firearms are used because they are available. My experience with the reality is most people who commit suicide are very unhappy for a very long time and firearms are sometimes the tool used, sometimes a vehicle, sometimes overdose etc.
Something else the statisticians tend to do is use death as the criteria to judge. While serious injury or eventually terminal injuries aren't addressed. Take some guy who got stabbed, has internal injuries that damage and weaken his organs. He may lose years off his life and will likely suffer from PTSD and may have serious physical and painful issues from that day forward.
IMO they have to take the statistics as a whole and/or over a prolonged period to be valid and these knee jerk liberal initiatives are more wishful pie in the sky thinking than fact.
Short story, I've traveled all over Europe and the only place I've ever been attacked for *no reason whatsoever* was England. I was obviously not the psychopaths first victim, he was confident and practiced. I really loved what he said after he found himself looking down the barrel of my Browning, "you can't do that here, this is England". He expected to get away with it and the last thing he expected was to be faced by somebody just as mean as he was, holding a firearm.
The liberal ideologies seem to be breeding more aberrant behavior and IMO it will get worse before it gets better.
Minor change to the opening line...
"Gun deaths are shaped by race in America. Whites are far more likely to shoot themselves, and African Americans are far more likely to be shot by shoot someone else."
Exactly. Unfortunately there are probably millions of Americans that do not have the capacity to read between the lines in order to discern such elementary propaganda.
