Yep. Great movie based on a true story of a man from Virginia, who saved 75-80 men in ferocious battles on Okinawa. Doss' great grandfather, Thomas Henry Doss was a Confederate soldier, who was killed death at Gettysburg on 7 July 1863, and at least one of Thomas' brothers, William A. Doss died in November of the same year at Appomattox. All men whom the Communist and Fascist left treat as traitors and terrorists everyday as witnessed throughout our country, by destroying our monuments and burial grounds, and by allowing like anti-American and racist trash columnists/journalists individuals the media megaphone.

    Kimi,

Check your date: "Thomas Henry Doss was a Confederate soldier, who was killed at Gettysburg on 7 July 1863,"

Unless he died four days after the battle ended, the battle of Gettysburg occurred 1st, 2nd, and 3rd of July 1863.

God rest his soul. Infection killed as many or more than outright bullets and cannon. A few days after the battle sounds plausible.

I wonder how many more men could he have saved, if he had a Gun and used it?

I enjoyed the movie and highly respect the man (Private Doss)for his convictions, for his service, and for his heroic deeds.

I also feel the same way about Alvin York who also had a movie made about his life and wartime exploits. His religious convictions and his inner struggle between his duty to serve his country along with his God.

York chose to pick up his rifle, while Doss did not. I feel that both men prove to us all that God is real and works his miracles through ordinary men of faith.

TS: Thomas Doss probably died of wounds since information notes that his death was at Gettysburg on 7 July 1863. Again, thanks for the notice! Working on memory there! [:D]

I enjoyed the movie, but thought the rescue segment a bit overdone. It was when they started playing the interviews of the men that were there that I realized it was a true story.

    One hell of a man.
