Omaha! College Baseball World Series

On ESPN: Stanford and No. 4 Florida in the opening round - 1st inning. Call it.

No. 1 Miami vs No. 8 Georgia tonight.

No. 6 Rice vs Fresno State, and No. 2 NC vs No. 7 LSU round out the field.

Update: Standford might be their usual dominant self in the end, however, Florida State, after trailing for the better part of eight innings by several runs, they just tied the game 5-5 with a three run homer with two out in the bottom of the eighth. Now, it's a good game!

Well, it was good for a few minutes, until the Cardinal came to bat and scored eleven runs to advance to the winner's bracket. Hopefully the Miami-Georgia game will be better.

If you can get ESPN, you really ought to tune in to the Miami-Georgia game in about two hours from now. It might be a great one.

Georgia and Miami tied up at 3-3 after six in a pretty good game.

Georgia Bulldogs beat Miami 7-4 with a 9th inning rally to send No. 1 ranked Miami to the losers bracket.

I've had the pleasure of living in Georgia and taking in some of the athletic activities there. Nice place, good folks, and great sporting events.

I'm tuning out on the Fresno-Rice game. The Owls are being pounded 11-1 in the 6th, and the weather is nice out, so we're off for a drive. I wonder if NC will take LSU down tonight now to make it a sweep of the top seeds in the opening round? [8D]

The CWS sucks! Try getting out of Omaha after work. All those out of staters driving around lost, plugging up the allready plugged up interstates.

Wish Omaha would have lost it, then my tax dollars wouldn't be going to build a new stadium that I have no say in, as I can't vote or have a voice for it because I live in Iowa. AAARRRGGGHHH.

I can only imagine how bad it is. It has become one of the biggest sporting events in America.

Anyway, It's Stanford 3 and Georgia 2 in the top of the 7th. Miami sent Florida State home today in an earlier game.

    Georgia beats Stanford 4-3.

I think they are. ESPN is not showing current conditions, or making any news reports as to the weather there. They are showing last Tuesdays Rice LSU game right now.

LSU and North Carolina resuming their game now which was rained out in the first inning last night with the Tarheels leading 2-0.

With two out in the bottom of the ninth and tied 3-3, the Tarheels beat LSU 7-3 on a grand slam home run. They will face undefeated Fresno State tomorrow with Stanford going up against Georgia.

    And now there are two:

While battling the nation's best pitching staff, the Fresno State team put together 10 timely hits and got a heroic pitching performance from an outstanding senior. In the end, Fresno State beat No. 2 North Carolina, a team accustomed to playing for the national championship, 6-1.

Nicknamed the "WonderDogs" during the College World Series, Fresno State eliminated the Tar Heels and won Bracket 2 with a 3-1 record. Fresno State will play No. 8 national seed Georgia, winners for the other side of the bracket. The CWS Championship Series is best of three and will begin Monday. The first game will be at 4 p.m. PT on ESPN.

Fresno State won the College Baseball World Series with a 6-1 upset over the Georgia Bulldogs. Fresno State is the lowest seeded team of any college sport to ever win an NCAA Championship. The win also represents Fresno State's first NCAA Championship ever in the Men's Division. Truly a superb effort by a Cinderella team for the ages. Georgia's lone run came in the eight inning on Gordon Beckham's 28th home run of the year which tied the NCAA record.
