Trying to sort out whats the best deal? TV Service

OMG....this is the most frustrating mess to sort out.

We have Direct TV with the largest channel package (no sports added) and its about $180 a month. We also have Netflix....which is $10 per month. We really watch VERY little of the Direct TV. We record a few shows...Vikings, Walking Dead, Sherlock, Flash, Marvel, things that come on regular TV. We watch very little of the added mess....a couple HBO series, but we pay for so much we don't want.

I'm looking at HBO Now and Amazon Prime.....and checking out Sling TV.

I'm thinking I can still watch everything that I currently watch.....

Amazon is $100 per year....and HBO Now is $15 per month...I already pay Netflix $10 per month.

Have any of you done the research on this?

I have Verizon FIOS. TV with a couple of premium channels and sports channels, phone service and the fastest internet they offer for $190/month (I think. My wife does the bills.) Switched from DISH and DSL. Less money and better service. WE also have Netflix.

Got rid of Direct TV 2 years ago. Installed exterior TV antenna like the old days and pickup about 35 local channels.

Amazon Prime at $100 a year is cheap especially if you purchase items online. Prime has 2 day free shipping on most items plus the movies.

I stream Netflix, Amazon plus 100's of other channels using Roku.

All the TV I want for about $20 a month.

We have Netflix($7.99/month), Amazon Prime($9), & Sling TV($20). The Sling we use some months and don't others, depending on what TV shows we watch, are on.

Antenna and Amazon Prime are all I've had for years.

And the main reason I have Prime is for the savings in shipping.

Well I really enjoy what I have. NONE. It works great no problems at all. I buy DVD of the series I want to watch but frankly most of what is on tv now is pretty lame. I just spent 10 days in a hotel room and except for the history channel I didn't find much to interest me. Of course I read a lot and that's much better than tv.

Ditched Cable TV, got rid of Netflik. Over the air antenna gets me 60 channels

Internet connection, over the air, and Kodi. Haven't missed a thing.

I think I'm going to go get an antenna and see what local channels we can pick up. Its looking like we can just totally get rid of Direct TV with all of the options out there.

Sadly I can't get but four UHF channels over the air since they went to that *#@&%$*($#&%^ digital TV. You can bet I would dump pay TV in an instant if I could. As it is I have to change services every two years as their promotions end & they try to jack up the price.
They should try to make more of an effort to keep their customers instead of trying to steal each others customers.

This website has a lot of info when "cutting the cord"---->Antenna Web

It will give you the direction of broadcast towers from your location plus much, much more..

    Very helpful.

Unless you live pretty close to broadcast towers, look for something you can mount in an attic or in place of your sattelite dish outside. Some will mount right up to the dish mount, and you can hook it up using the cable that is already there.

I pay $19.99 a month plus sales tax for Dish and seldom watch any of it. Nexflix at $7.99 is the best deal along with Amazon Prime free videos. I placed 138 orders with Amazon in 2016. I got my money's worth for sure.

A good and reasonably priced 35 mile antenna that can be mounted in an attic or outdoors:

(Buy it through some place like Walmart, for the reasonable price I mention: https://www.walmart.com/ip/RCA-Suburban-Mini-Yagi-Digital-Outdoor-Antenna-with-Mast/10828410)

You can save yourself time and effort and skip checking out that Sling TV they promote so heavily. The $20/month package is a lot of low-rent channels and no local stations at all. By the time you add on to get "packages" of decent channels, you're back to $75/mo or so. And it's internet delivered, so if you have data limits, you could be screwed twice.
    I may be a bit crazy - but I didn't drive myself.

I currently have Direct TV and I'm probably switching back to the Dish Network. I have to have FS1 & THE Golf Channel which means I have to go to a second tier service. Cable is not an option as you only get used equipment and their DVR's only hold 100 hours. 2 year deal with DISH along with 3 months free premium channels, $50 Visa gift card locked in at $69 a month for 2 years. May get a better deal on a bundle but I don't know which internet providers they work with.
I have to call them back as the problem I have now is to set up an appointment for the installation.

$180 per month is $2,160 per year. Buy DVDs. You get what you want, you don't support programming you don't agree with and you have something after time is up on the subscription.

I'm thinking about trying the antenna and dropping Direct TV, due to the aggravation one has to put up with as gruntled pointed out. The big deal for me is that I like my college football games that come up on the ESPN sports channels. What's the least expensive way to get ESPN sports channels if I drop Direct TV?
