Bushmaster

Just wondering why I see so many of Bushmasters' variants of the Ar-15 posted as for sale. Is there something wrong with the models they have to chose from?

Anyone own one of these brand of rifles? How does the quality compare to a colt? will all the AR-15 type of rifles that are post ban accept hi-cap mags? Rosie

I placed my order for a M4-A3 a month ago and I called to check the status of my order and they said Im probably looking at another couple month wait. 14-16 weeks is a long time. I wonder why they cant crank them out a little faster.

I just called about my Bushmaster order. They said they were still running at 14 weeks. I orderd the gun Dec.6th so its gonna be the middle of March. They said they could send me a M4 A3 with a 14 inch barrel with izzy flash suppressor now. Im holding out for the 16 inch though. More accurate I would think. Any thoughts on the 14 inch carbine??

    Thanks,

I own a bushmaster with the h-bar barrel and it is a post ban gun. I love it and it works great with no glitches. Mine will accept all the pre ban hi cap mags including vietnam era mags with no problem

Though I'm not a fan of the AR-15 design, I've handled and shot Bushmasters enough to say they're top notch construction.I've heard more than one person say that post ban Colts have lost some of their quality, I have not had personal experience with them however, so that's just internet banter.[This message has been edited by ED P (edited 10-09-2001).]

I own two. The 20" H Bar and the 16" Shorty. I love them both. I was not an AR man before I bought them but they have made me change my opinion of them. If you can get one I strongly recomend it.

At least equal. They use GI type pins unlike Colt.I have and like both.I am always curious of those that say C is better or BM is better. What are they basing that on?If buying today I would get a BM-cheaper is the reason.cpermd

Yes I've owned them. Experienced some jams, failure to eject followed by a second round being picked-up and pushed into the fray. Typically easy to clear, just pull charging handle back and turn rifle to right side and shake, then release bolt. I've seen and heard of other makes doing same. Both Colt and Bushmaster are milspec, with Colt doing PC alterations to their civilian model lowers. That is why I bought Bushmaster. And yes all the AR's on the market will accept hi-cap mags. It might be the AK family your thinking of that changed the mag well to accept single stack mags.

With bull barrels is quite better than AR15with an AR15 watch out for water drops out there or have a good suply of condoms at hand (Viet nam GI barrel Humidity protectiondevice) (Soldier and gun) "Whatever" HAHAHA!

I've used both Colt and Bushmaster M16's and I would have to say that I've never noticed the difference in their miliary contract firearms. However, I have owned a "civilian" Bushmaster XM15-E2S and loved the hell out of it. They make some fine rifles.

I just replaced all the internals on my BM lower with a BM lower kit. I shot (2) 20 round magazines through it. It worked perfectly. I have a preban Colt and you can't tell the difference except for the name between the two. If you are looking for a target rifle. look at Armalite or Eagle Arms (made by Armalite). You can build up or order a BM for target shooting but I think Armalite still has an edge in that department.

I own a bushmaster. They have a break in period. Because they are really tight. With a fully lubricated bolt and receiver it should jam 2-5 times, through 60 rounds, after that, it will work like a charm.

I own an A2 Bushmaster and the only jams I have ever had was from aftermarket mags or defective ones. I learned my lesson, get good name brand mags for these gun and you usually can find them for about $20.00 a piece.
