Has anyone here used those pocket clips for...

small handguns, as opposed to using a holster? I'm thinking about getting one for my J framed Smith. Has anyone here heard anything about them that would make you think twice about it?

A buddy has one and it keeps the handle of the gun above your pocket. It rides high and is virtually impossible to see. I purchased a pocket holster for the gun, but it's entirely too bulky, so I won't be using it.

Just wondering if ya'll had any experience with those pocket clips: www.clipdraw.com

i put one on the p3at and it works really well. its handy and when you use it on your belt open carry, it's so small nobody notices it.

    it's a trip!

I have seen them on glocks but wonder about the little clip and the great weight of the pistol.

I bought 2 one for my glock which woeked great for the small of my back till it caught on the truck seat and broke (my fault) The second one is for my wifes taurus 85 which she keeps tucked in her jeans . She loves it Hers was glue on and has never moved 4 months now. Yhe glock was screw on with a simple change. I will buy another thanks for the link.

I use the pocket holster, those clips worry me. To each his own, but I don't want an exposed triger on a pistol in my pants.

I have the Kel-Tec P-3AT, but am using the DeSantis Super Fly pocket holster. The holster has an extra flap to aid in concealing the gun outline, which I like a lot. Also like that the material they made it from is kind of sticky, does not move in the pocket. But the gun is surrounded by a slick material, so it still pulls out easy.

What I don't like is that extra flap is Velcro'd in place. This makes for a thick, stiff ridge the length of the holster with the various layers of cloth and Velcro. So the outline of the gun is completely gone, but it sure looks like you have something in that pocket!

I may alter the holster, lose the Velcro. Thin down and make more flexible that line where the flap meets the holster-proper.

I have looked at the pocket clip on P-3AT's I've handled, the idea just makes me uneasy. Don't want the trigger exposed.

Never tried the pocket clip on a J frame. Have one on my kel-Tec.
Have a Barami Hip Grip on a J frame. It leaves just the grip above the belt. Can't see it under a T shirt.

I have a HIP-GRIP on my M38 S&W Bodyguard. It looks like this:
    HIPGRIP.jpg

It works pretty good. The only beef I have is it changes the grip a little and you have to get used to holding it, They are plastic so they look kind of cheesey(I have the black one).

I have mine on a M38 S&W along with a tyler t-grip. This is my working outside in the yard gun, walking the dog gun. The gun is older(late 70's) and is a blued gun. It has been carried when i was working outside so its kind of worn. What i am saying is its not a BBQ gun to show off so the grips don't matter to me. I am not sure if they make them for southpaws.

Here is the website for them.

Midway has them for 27 bucks

Here is a ok review of them

All in all i like the ones I have on my pistol. It works for me.

...I put one on a Taurus PT-22, but didn't carry it much. It was one with the two sided tape holding it to the slide. Never really trusted that tape. Always thought that clip would hit me in the face someday, but it never came loose. I prefer a holster of some type, depending on the gun. My Star PD fits IWB of jeans and stays very secure all on its' own.

Thanks for the info. I bought a Galco pocket holster but it was entirely too bulky to use...looking for an alternative.

only thing I don't like about it is that there's nothing to protect the trigger from being pulled, like in a normal holster. Ruled it out based on that.
Some will die in hot pursuit
    And fiery auto crashes
Some will die in hot pursuit
    While sifting through my ashes
Some will fall in love with life
And drink it from a fountain
That is pouring like an avalanche
    Coming down the mountain

I have a few pocket holsters and I think the best are the cheapo Uncle Mikes holsters. I have one for a Beretta 21a and it works real good. Be advised there are some states that require a holster of some kind with a CCW. I believe GA is one of them. So check your laws where you live.

I was out today with my M38 in my pocket just like in the photo. Its warm today so all I had on as far as a jacket is an untucked Long sleeve shirt. The gun was concealed no problem. I went in several stores and the Car dealer, no one was wiser.

I bought a ultra high ride for mine and it works great. Tried a in side the waist band and it's not for a revolver in my opinion.
