Well Ol Rembrandt has spent the last 3 days deer hunting and found my stud like figure has shifted to the belt line....my smoking jacket is becoming a bit snug....time for a body make-over. Gonna loose 25lbs before spring....if I make it, I'll celebrate by getting a new gun!Anyone else have a goal for 2002?

Sir Rembrandt--I like your manner of self-reward. I've put on about 15 pounds since the opening weekend of Iowa's deer season and it only shows at the belt-line. I plan to indulge in tasty goodies today and also begin dieting as well. I was thinking about rewarding myself with one of those robes from Cabela's similar to the ones you displayed here on the General Discussion Forum. However, I plan on purchasing the one in Mossy Oak.

Maybe we need to start a club here on the ol' gun board (the yuppies among us would call it a support group) as we work toward our weight-loss goals. I'd been fooling myself for a long time into believing I still weighed 235 lbs. My wife, hereinafter referred to as Mrs. Smartass, bet me I weighed more than I thought and I danced on the scale to the tune of 250.My 2002 goal is to hit 210 by summer. I don't care to weigh any less than that, even though those screwy, ideal height/weight charts at the doctor say my 6 feet should weigh 170 or some silly thing. If I got down to 170, all the bullies at the beach would be kicking sand in my face and I'd be forced to break out one of my 1958 Superman comic books, clip the coupon in the back, and enroll in the Charles Atlas muscle-building course.Anybody remember those???? The scrawny guy always kicked some bully * in the end and walked off with the girl. What about it? Anybody want to keep a running account of their weight-loss success/failure?Anybody that honest?

Cleaning out the basement over the holidays, I found some old college pictures where I'm 6'4" and 190 pounds of lean muscle. I could do 10 dips with 90 pounds of weight hanging on me and could run a 10K in under 44 minutes. Well, let's just say that was quite a few burritos ago. At my biggest, I topped at at 287 pounds. I'm now down to 270, and I hope to get down to 200 by the beginning of summer. The doctor is talking about my high blood pressure and I just don't want to go on those pills. How about we form some sort of a pact? Everybody who is serious agrees to kick $20 to the fellow who loses the most after four or five months or whatever. Fellow has to use said cash to help buy a gun at the end of the time. If we get five or six guys to sign up, might be a good incentive. What do you guys say?

There's a infomercial on the tube that asks: "Are you going to get that body of yours in shape, or are you just going to let it slide?" I enjoy Mrs. Mudge's cooking WWAAAYYY too much.I'm 30 lbs overweight and I'm takin' the easy way out! Mudge the "slider"

You know what? Every year many people make the resolution to lose weight, then they usually fail. I've decided not to make that mistake again. If I do lose any, then great, but if I don't, oh well, although I do like the notion of getting myself a new gun for any successful efforts. I just have to stay away from the Slim Fast diet.... I tried it once, but it doesn't do any good when you drink 5 of those shakes at once

There are damned few advantages to weighing 275 lbs. when you graduate from high school. One of them is this: I weigh the same today as when I graduated. Only thing I can't figure out is why my waist is 5" bigger and my chest is 2" smaller.

Sounds like we've got the making of quite an offensive line here. Me at left tackle at 6'4" 270 lbs, Dano at left guard at 6'5" and 275, wundudnee at center at 6'2" and 265, and ndbilly at right guard at 275. All we need is a right tackle and a tight end and we're set. Who else is stepping up? PS Mustang is definitely the kicker. Definitely.

william81 - Hope you have more success than I did. Mine went like this:January - I WILL lose 25lbs. by July. I'll start as soon as the holiday leftovers are gone.February - OK, I'm serious. I am going to knock this weight off starting the day after the Super Bowl party.March - Well, 25 pounds is a lot. You really shouldn't lose too much too fast. It isn't healthy. But, I WILL lose 20 pounds by July. I'll get cranking as soon as that Easter ham is finished.April - Twelve weeks to go x 1.5 lbs. per week... There is NO REASON I will not lose eighteen pounds by July. I am serious this time. The minute our anniversary dinner is finished, I am ON PROGRAM.May - Right after the Memorial Day picnic I am TOTAL vegetarian until the reunion.June - As soon as this reunion is over, I am going to join that gym. By the 30th reunion, I'll be so buff that no one will even recognize me. July - Reunion night. I meet a bunch of people I haven't seen for a long time and think, "Man, did he/she put on the pounds." But to each I say, "Hey, you look GREAT! Let's eat!"

Now this is what I'm talking about! We've got some beef on this board! I figure we average about 6'3" and 260 pounds, so I'm wondering why any of us feel the need to carry a handgun. Heck, we could pound the snot out of 99% of the population! You figure we get a bunch of us together and hit a buffet, we'd put the place out of business. It's funny, but I was wondering if any of you big guys notice how nice it is to hang around with other big guys? When I go out to eat, I get the biggest steak and all my tiny friends are ordering salads and chicken and they always get a doggie bag. They drive these little tiny cars that I struggle in and out of and they just don't seem to have much of a zest for life. I see some big galoot, I know there's a fellow who'd love to sit down and split a bottle of bourbon and talk football or guns or whatever. I mean, Santa is a big fellow and he's about the jolliest dude around. Anybody else notice this?(Lowrider, you'll be proud to know that I've been hitting the weight pile again after taking about four years off. Put up 225 twice at the end of a workout the other day, so I figure in another two or three months I should be coming along nicely. My goal is to get below 200 (199.9999999 lbs WILL qualify) and to get the blood pressure back in the normal range. Right now it is SKY high. Perhaps we'll meet in the gym someday.)

Lincoln and Williams: Good for you, men. Keep it up. I have the high BP problem myself and also high blood sugar. The blood sugar is what really motivated me to lose weight this year. I like my legs too damn much to see them lopped-off 'cause of diabetes.Bicycle, Rembrandt, bicycle. I never get on my Harley for less than a hundred miles. Even if I take it to the store for a quick milk-and-bread run for the ol' lady I usually don't come back for a couple of hours. She really HATES that.Mudge, I run progressive, non-air shocks on my HD. I had air shocks on other bikes and they always seemed too harsh on the rebound. My Progressives are 5-way adjustable for load and 4-way adjustable for rebound dampening. Best shocks I've ever run on a motorcycle.
