I was just curious if any Iowans here were planning on heading out to the Trade Show Productions gun show at the state fair grounds from April 19-21. I will probably be there on Sunday.

Is this the eastward migration that Iowans make every April? I would like to try to go, but that will be the first weekend after tax season ends, so may try to reconnect with the family instead.

Otoman--I don't stand people up at Gun shows. I'm pretty recognizable since I'm probably the only one there wearing cherry red Doc Martin boots. I showed up an hour early (which meant waking up at 4am) just so that I wouldn't miss someone at the last Trade Show Productions Inc. gun show in Des Moines.

Now, now boys, let's not fight! There are not that many of us and we have to stick together. Idsman75, are you sure they will let you in with boots like that?Rembrandt, what kind of scope and lever are you seeking? If new will do, maybe I can help.

JudgeColt--Oto and I aren't arguing. We're just funnin' eachother. For the record, I've worn these boots to almost every gun show I've attended. I generally get looks from the ignorant that want to imply that I am a member of an extremist group because I wear "red" Doc Martin boots. They happened to be quite popular and those that are "in-the-know" compliment me on them every time I wear them. No self-respecting member of the implied extremist group would wear "cherry" Doc Martin boots anyway. They would be of the "oxblood" variety.

Gunshow in Des Moines? Again? Is this in the same place as the one about 3 months ago? I think it was in the 4-H building at the fairgrounds. This is too sweet. A gun show 1 day after my birthday and me with a bunch of cash stashed away.....wifey hasn't found it

I'm going to try to make it down. It's been almost 3 months since I got a gun, and now I actually have some cash Maybe a used Taurus 85 snubbie, or even a Ruger SP101 if I can get a good price. I really should get something the wife can shoot if she has to, and although I completely love that Makarov I recently got it might be better to have a revolver handy. Hopefully I can find somebody to do a partial trade with.

Judge Colt,Haven't quite made a decision on a lever action yet...but I think this may be close....Need to handle a few to know for sure. http://www.marlinfirearms.com/firearms/leverActionCB_rifles/1894Cowboy.htm# For a scope, I was thinking along the lines of a Burris 2x-7x compact in a matte finish for my Bushmaster flat top, already have the rings (Ultra high Warne quick detach) http://www.burrisoptics.com/compactscopes.html

Pup--If you're at the show on Sunday the 21st I'll be making a bee-line to the concession counter for a cup of coffee as soon as the doors open. I'd like to take a gander at that Makarov and will give you a fair price if it tickles my fancy. I've been wanting a Makarov for some time now.

Pup--If you're at the show on the 21st I sure wouldn't mind taking a gander at that Makarov. I've had a hankering for one for some time now.idsman75@peoplepc.com

Rembrandt, take a good look at the Cowboy at the show. I will give you some prices to compare to the deals at the show. I can get you a Cowboy for about $500, plus the governor's wages and shipping. The Burris would be about $240, plus tax and shipping. If you are in Sioux City, you are not far away. Idsman75 knows the way.

I'll be there. There won't be another one at that location until June. It usually is pretty busy Saturday, Friday night can go either way, and Sunday is usually slower, but steady. I hope it will be a good one.

Irarmsx, will you be there as a spectator, or will you have a table?

I know what Rembrandt and JudgeColt look like. If any of y'all are at the gun show and want to meet up, I predict that I'll be getting a cup of coffee at 11am from the snack bar. I'll be the only guy wearing Cherry Red Doc Martin boots with the yellow sole stitching and I'll be sporting a black baseball cap with the word "ARMY" across the front in gold lettering. My name is "Jeremy". Feel free to say "hi".

Is anyone here going to have a table?

Idsman....sure hope no one else is wearing white tennis shoes and blue jeans....that will be my identifying marker.... now if I had a nice pair of those purtty red shoes...naw, maybe I'll just wear my Smoking Jacket instead....

The Doc Martin boot holds a special kind of symbolism. It is representative of the work boot once worn in Brittain of old. They are now priced WELL above the income level of the common working man and can only be afforded within the means of those that enjoy status similar to that of the SJC. I do believe I will also be sporting a long-sleeved black shirt with "ARMY" in gold lettering on the back and a white star at my left breast. Twill be a shame should members of our grand brotherhood be present yet not have the opportunity to share a bit of a repast with one another.
