What kind of Handgun should I buy?

Greetings!

I am looking to invest in a handgun. Sometimes I plan on carrying it (CC). But I am looking into a .40 or a .45. I am about 175 lbs and really want a "modern" weapon that has looks accuracy and dependability. But I am not familiar enough with all the new ones to decide. I plan on spending around $400-700 Which one is best?

Thanks!

Something in a size .45 that says "Colt" on it.
There are a couple of Colt Commander Lightweight models (I carry one) on the auction that will go for right around $700-750.

I second the motion for a Colt or save a little money and go with a P90 Ruger.

What we have here is a manufacturer's rep trying to gather info on "What People Want". The TRL buzzer went off, Gotham City had been motified, and the subject has been located and painted with infrared tracking tape.

Go with a Colt Officers model or a 1991 model its a little cheaper, i love mine, and they can have enhancment upgrades done to them as you see fit, mine was reliable and a real good shooter right out of the box as most are. i also realy like the glocks, theyr'e a little salty though.

I am a big fan of the 10mm. In the price range you have given there are many. The 1911 types, Sig, Glock, CZ/EAA. If you are not going with a full 10mm I pick a .45acp. Go with the CZ line and buy 2. My 2 cents [8D]

Handle as many different styles from the reputable makers as you can. Buy the one that just feels 'right' to you. You'll know it when you feel it. For me it is a 1911, small, medium. large or extra large it doesn't matter.

SIG!226,229,225 and the 239 are excellent choices. If going for concealed carry opt for the 239. Sigs are legendary for reliability and accuracy, and they're made of metal![:)]

SIG P-232 380 (9mm x 17 kurz) or the Glock 21 (.45 cal). Go to your local dealer, best if they have an indoor range; try the feel; get them to show the disassembly, assembly, gun safety, and then shoot the ones that feel comfortable to you, that you can actually hit what it is your shooting at....[8D]

It must be right, or we wouldn't do it this way!

The ranges here will rent handguns to you to try....if that is available in your area, do it...YOu can handle all the different guns you are thinking of purchasing and then decide..
No one can tell you what gun to purchase...do a bit of research, go to the gun shows, go to gun stores..ask questions...but its all going to come down to what feels good to you, what you want in a gun...and what is in your price range....
    My choice?..Colt 1911A1..
    Then Springfield Ultra Compact..
After those come the Ruger and Smith&Wesson...

    Glocks?..no way..

Someone please tell me how a 175-lb man is going to carry a SIG P-220 or a Ruger P-90 in a concealed manner? Geez.

    I'd go with a SIG P-245 or a S&W 457.
