My wife has decided on the new rifle she wants.... its seems to fit her perfect.. light weight Compact and all ... and I know shell be comfortable with the recoil, but I dont know much about this caliber. I also heard the .270wsm is better than the standard .270 anyways. Is it? Do they make this model rifle in that chambering, If not which rifles are currently made in that chambering. Primary uses of this rifle wil consist of target shooting, Pig hunting, and deer Hunting...

Jastr: ithink you will find the 270 to be an excellent caliber for what you have in mind!!! loads of 150 grain for deer to 200yrds,load 80 grain for varmit to 300yrds. and 120/130 for anything inbetween.is a most accuarate bullet and recoil while stout is very manageable. i see no reason to go to wsm unnles your going to be shooting elk or bear, and even then theres been a lot of elk and black bear taken with this caliber. as you can tell i really like my 270,only wish i had a chance to use it more often. Can't beat them B. Tips with a damn big stick. They tend to be my favorite.

I have a Winchester Model 70 Black Shadow with a VariX-II 3-9X40 that I purchased right after I arrived here in Iowa. I had never hunted deer in Iowa because I was very inexperienced with firearms before I joined the Army. To make a long story short, I was so excited about being back in prime whitetail country and wanted that .270 so bad that I bought it without researching the fact that you can't hunt deer with modern rifles in the state of Iowa. One year later and I have an unfired gun sitting here in my gun cabinet. I think I am going to spend the extra money and get a Nebraska license next year and hunt both Iowa (with my shotgun) and Nebraska with the .270. I've heard nothing but good things about this versatile cartrige. I'm sure your wife will have a keeper for life.
