I know the Benelli M1 w/pistol grip can take 3inch shells but how many? And is there 3inch buckshot and slug shells out there? and does that extra powder increase its effective range? And if it does what is effective range?

Okay now, if I buy a Benelli M1 with a pistol grip would I be able to change back to a standard stock? And if I can where can I buy the standard stock online?

Thanks for all the info. Im learning alot.

The state of Iowa does not allow the use of modern rifles for deer hunting. My Mossberg 835 w/rifled slug barrel isn't a bad gun. It does fairly well at typical slug gun ranges. However, I have been contemplating my next gun purchase for months now. I am still trying to decide between a Kimber Eclipse or a new slug gun for the deer season. In your opinion, who makes the best shotgun for my purposes? I like Ithaca shotguns and have considered their Deerslayer II.

You will never regret buying an Ithaca. I wish I had kept my 20 ga featherweight. People used to laugh at me, but, it was the most duck killinist gun in the marsh. I wish one of the gun companies would build pump or semiauto rifles that dumped the empties out the bottom. The reloader in me would buy one in a heartbeat.

Remigton 1100 or a Winchester 1300 both are offered in Deer models. If you already have a good slug gun maybe just get a good auto-loader and shoot buck shot.If you decide that maybe check out the Stoeger model 2000 good reasonably priced gun.But if price is no object there are 3 I would reccomend 1.Browning Gold 2.Benelli Legacy or Montefeltro 3.Beretta es100 which is also offered in a rifled slug model. So there you go from economy on up to high dollar models.

Thanks for the input. I love my Ithaca 37 and am leaning towards the Deerslayer III or maybe the Browning Gold. I love my 835 but there's just something about a nice shotgun that is just a bit of a cut above the rest.
