Looking for Gun Store in Sioux Falls, SD

Okay, I'm at my wits end. I moved back to the midwest this year and have been trying to make a pilgrimage to the best gun store I've ever set foot in. There used to be (and hope there still is) a gun store in Sioux Falls, SD that has an indoor range where you can test out guns for free so long as you supply the ammo. They always had the hugest selection that I have seen in a gun store and am itchin' to check it out again. My dillema arises out of the fact that I can't find the place in the Yellow Pages and don't have a good reason to go up to Sioux Falls and just go driving around. I haven't been that way in 5 years so I don't remember where it was located. I think it was called "Jim's" or "Bill's" or "Bob's" or something like that.

I used to live up there in the late 80's and early 90s. There was a place on Minnesota Ave that sounds like the place you are talking about. They had a range in the back. Unfortunately I can't remember the name but I still have some friends around there I will try to find out. It was a nice place. Nothing like having 10-12 of ak47s,Ar15s,M1 Garands to fondle as you open the door.Take the Minnesota ave Exit off of I29 , make a right and it should be (if it is still there) about two miles on the right. Like I stated earlier its been a while.[This message has been edited by royc38 (edited 09-29-2001).]

You are looking for Gary's Gun Shop. The address is 905 W. 41st St. Sioux Falls, SD 57105. The phone number is (605) 332-6119. They do have an excellent selection there and are good folks to deal with. They still have the range and a full service gunsmith shop to boot. I have done alot of business with them and have always been satisfied.

Thanks for the info. Gary's isn't on yellowpages.com so it worried me that they may have closed in the last 5 years since I bought my Mak-90 there. I recall them being excellent people to deal with. I've done Scheel's plenty of business where I'm at and I go to Cabela's on my way home in Owatonna, MN a couple of times a year. Cabela's and Scheel's are great but I'm not big on the "chain stores". I prefer stores that make there living off of selling guns because my 2nd Ammendment rights are in their best interest if they want to stay in business. Cabela's and Wal-Mart and Scheel's will still always be around if our gun rights go south. Gary's won't so Gary's is where I will be doing my shopping from now on.
