Coated Bullets

I've never used bullets coated with anything before but I do have a box of Winchester Ballistic Silvertips in .223 Rem that seam to have some sort of coating that is not moly-like in appearance. What is your opinion of coated bullets and how many different coatings are there? Pros/Cons? I have heard that cleaning the bore of a rifle that has fired coated bullets can involve extra work with risk of pressure build-up if it is not done properly.Any info and opinion is appreciated.

I don't know about high pressure but the coatings do not touch my barrel. They group great for about 5 shots, then the coating "balls" up in the rifling and slings the bullets. If you drop the bolt and look at the light through it, you will see the little balls of coating forming in the rifling. CLEAN IT, CLEAN IT, CLEAN IT!Others have the opposite opinion, but I don't use it. I shoot too much in one afternoon to clean the coating enough times to maintain good groups.

Winchester 9mm silvertips 115gr. gives me the best grouping of all other ammo I've tried in my P-85. But I clean my gun everytime I use it.

The Winchester Silvertip handgun ammo is not coated with the black stuff that is on the Ballistic Silvertip rifle ammo. It is not moly-like in appearance. Any ideas what it is? It almost feels like plastic to the touch.
