Woman carries gun on flight America on Alert Full coverage index NEW YORK (AP) - A woman has been arrested after she allegedly tried to pass through a security checkpoint at Westchester County Airport with a loaded handgun in her carryon luggage.Barbara Mongelluzzo, 52, was scheduled for arraignment Saturday on a charge of third-degree criminal possession of a weapon, said Susan Tolchin, a spokeswoman for the county executive's office.Mongelluzzo, of Cicero, N.Y., was arrested at about 5 p.m. Friday after a palm-sized .22-caliber handgun allegedly caught the attention of a security worker monitoring a luggage scanner. As the worker was checking the bag by hand, Mongelluzzo asked to speak with a supervisor and explained that the gun belonged to her boyfriend, Tolchin said."We have very high security at our airport," Tolchin said. "There are times when people complain about the lines, but this is why we have this security."Mongelluzzo allegedly said she had not realized the gun was in her luggage until after she arrived in White Plains from Syracuse, N.Y., on Thursday. She then attended a management seminar in Connecticut, Tolchin said.Mongelluzzo said that since the gun had not been detected on her earlier flight from Syracuse to White Plains, she did not expect it to be found on her return, Tolchin added. http://www.usatoday.com/news/nation/2001/11/03/gun.htm

That's funny because she shouldn't have been holding it for anyone according to NY law. You can get a carry permit (still have mine from NY) but you are the only one that is allowed to have control over it and all handguns must be listed on the permit. Sounds like the permit holder broke the law too and he's probably in for some trouble as well.
